Looks interesting, not too gung ho I hope. A friend of my mothers was on the convoys and survived being sunk by a U boat.
My Grandad too ... he never stopped banging on about it ... and I never tired of him doing so :-)Shame he's not around anymore to see this.
It was, unfortunately, really quite dull.
A slight surprise given how many gripping warship and submarine films have been made over the years. You'd think a new one would have enough prior art available as reference material to be able to make a sure footed success, but not this time.
I think they were going for a "chaos in the fog of war in a constrained environment" effect, but it was grey, and flat, and repetitive, and chaotic enough that it was hard to envisage what was happening.

I think you've summed it up well. The credits are still rolling now as i type. Part of me had no idea what was going on. it felt rushed and lacked any kind of tension and really quite boring. What a disappointment.

On this day in 1940 there were only 10 U boats at sea. On a random date in 1944 there were well over 60 at sea at a time.
Have to say I really enjoyed that. For some reason I was expecting more of a slow build up, but it jumped into the action pretty quickly. Hanks once again proving he's one of the best actors out there.
My only "gripe" was whether the taunting over the radio by the U-boat crews was historically accurate? A quick google search suggests there was no evidence of this, and that the U-boats were actually only able to listen and not transmit?
