https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/sci-fi/star-trek-strange-new-worlds-uk-watch/ says on Paramount+ when that launches in the UK.

Out in the USA today. And pretty bloody good. No spoilers I guess, but it's certainly far more like "ST" than Discovery or Picard. You either like the "1 story per episode" style of ol;d or you don't - I do, and it means far less complex stories I guess but also no padding out or slow bits. At least on the evidence of the first episode.

Nope. Pike was still coming to terms with what was revealed in Discovery season 2 but they could hardly ignore that. And it didn't hold things up.

Really enjoyed the first episode - also saw the preview for the rest of the series and it looks good!

Yeah, we both said "now THAT's more like it!" here. Really good. Finally.

Details in the link posted by Xeny a couple of posts back at the end of April

details from the link posted by Xeny said:
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds arrives in the UK and Ireland on 22nd June 2022. The series will premiere here following the launch of Paramount Plus in these territories on the same day.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is an exclusive title for fledgling streamer Paramount Plus (formerly known as CBS All Access), with the show launching in the United States, Latin America, Australia and the Nordics on Thursday 5th May 2022.

This means that the series will be in the middle of its weekly releases when it arrives in the UK a week ahead of the finale. That might be frustrating to die-hard Trekkies in the UK, who may have to spend a while avoiding spoilers for this latest show. However, they can take some comfort in the fact that the Star Trek content will be here in a matter of months and from that point on we should once again be on the same release schedule as our friends across the pond. In short, keep calm and wait for Paramount Plus. It won't be much longer.

Maria Kyriacou, President, Australia, Canada, Israel and UK, Paramount, said, “The addition of Paramount+ to our strong portfolio of free-to-air, pay TV and streaming services will broaden the range of choice available to our audiences in the UK and Ireland. "Paramount+ will be a one-stop destination for Paramount’s biggest brands, where fans of all ages can find exclusive original premium content, global hits, and discover a world of favourites from Paramount’s vast catalogue.”

Apparently the channel will be free for Sky Cinema customers or you can subscribe for £6.99 a month, looking forward to this one

It certainly feels a bit more like the old ST going off the first episode, and we enjoyed it. However, we also enjoyed the first 2 series of Discovery, and look how that turned out - unwatchable now for my money.

BTW, I did at times during the first episode of SNW get the sense occasionally that we were watching The Orville.......

Problem is because it's set on the Enterprise, so called fans are going to moan that it doesn't look exactly like it did on the TV series made over 50 years ago.

Personally, I can't wait!
I think most people can accept that duplicating the 1960s, low-budget, visual look of TOS wouldn't fly in 2022.

The issue will be if they try to feature technologies more advanced than what we saw in TOS and even TNG, as Discovery did when it was set around the TOS era. Hard to believe that Starfleet had near-instantaneous-to-anywhere-in-the-universe jump drives, time travelling battlesuits and sentient borg-like AIs even before Kirk and Spock were flying around in the Enterprise.

indeed - i can look past it for a good story and characters.

and SHHHHH your not supposed to talk about the spore jump drive , its a secret and everyone in the universe keeps it.......for some reason....that i forget.....that they managed to keep a secret from the TOS era all the way through to TNG , DS9 , Voyager (and the BORG didnt even know about it) and of course all way into the future that Discovery ended up in..........no one knew at all.....

The opening scenes were some of the best, and I was worried that the WOKE virus may have infected the series as well, but it hasn't.
Looking forward to next Thursday for episode 2 biggrin

I'm already watching episode 7. Why is it taking so long for the UK to get it, as it's one of the best Sc-Fi series on at the moment?

I presume we're not going to get into discussing it properly before it's readily available in the UK on June 22nd?

Just to make it fair on everyone?
