Anyone know how easy it is to cancel before the 7 day free trial expires?
I fancy giving it a try (to watch Greyhound), but just want to know if Apple will make me jump through hoops to cancel membership?

Kudos

Can’t help with the trial answer I’m afraid, but I logged in yesterday (as part of my 1yr free with an iPhone purchase) and there was absolutely bugger all worth watching

I think Greyhound will be the first thing I watch.

But it should all be laid out in the T+C on how to cease the trial.

Rumours they are getting more external content, and Sony Pictures entertainment deputy head has just been acquired by Apple. Hopefully get it worthwhile. Not soon though.

I got a year free membership with a new iPhone, I've enjoyed See and Servant, just started Defending Jacob and looking forward to Greyhound. But they really need more content. When I signed up it said it was a very simple thing to leave, so fingers crossed that's right!

Were your free memberships given for buying an iPhone direct from Apple, or elsewhere?

If you create the account wit them, it pops up on the Apple TV app as an option to be activated.

https://offers.appletvapp.apple

Where you create the account should also give you the option to cease the 7 day trial I think?

On the first question, Apple Customer Service is amongst the best around, so - my experience over several years - I wouldn't hesitate to give it a go, and if anything goes wrong they are usually good at putting things right.

Second, the settings and management of your Apple ID is amongst the most easy to navigate of all the bits and bobs that I pay for stuff with various providers from mobile 'phone to Now TV subs.

Thirdly - no there's not a lot - although we have found five or so things very enjoyable and high production quality in last seven months (but "free" after a hardware purchase)

Be aware when you cancel that’s it, I made that mistake on a year free trial thinking I was just turning off auto-renew. Nope.

Que?

You mean, if you cancel it.......... they cancel it?

I think that's what OP wants(?)

Yes but you don’t get the remainder of the free trial, only really relevant on the longer ones where you want to be able to make an active choice to renew

Bought the iPhone at Currys as I got a discount there. Still got the year free trial though.

How do you plan on watching Apple streamed TV?
Obviously the app will work on the phone and if you have an Apple TV box, but some of the more recent smart TV's and non Apple streaming devices now get an Apple app.

Not sure what airplay 2 means, casting from the phone?

Don't use it myself.

My LG TV has an AppleTV+ app.

As above, I had a 12 month free trial.

It's like the opposite of Netflix / Prime, they tend to flood your screen with options that are 95% of no interest to you, Apple only seem to have about 4/5 different things on offer, honestly the choice is tiny.

I watched about 30 mins of the Beastie Boys docu which was good, but I never felt the need to go back to it.

Again, as someone said above, if you cancel they cancel immediately, it doesn't run until the end of the trial. Personally, I weighed the risk of being billed for the bloody thing v not being able to access it for another 8 months and cancelled it anyway.

I'm sure the Apple faithful will keep it going, but it didn't have anything worth keeping it for at the moment.

My Firestick is on that list, so I guess I'd be using that.

So far I've watched Defending Jacob, Morning Show and Servant. All really good. Now looking forward to Greyhound. If they deliver 3 shows and a film of that quality every year that alone would be worth the subscription.

The quality on Netflix these days is really bad, lucky if there are 4/5 shows a year that I'd call top notch.

I'm not sure Netflix is "really bad" but I'd agreed there's been a change.I think it's my age, my Kid's generation aren't happy unless any TV series / film comes with "a strong female lead, a very diverse cast and a 2020 moralistic tone". Those were his exact words, he's 14...

God, I miss objectifying women and mindless male action stars.
