Simon Callow was in a comedy series back in 1984 called Chance In A Million. I've never seen it since but it was brilliant - especially the way he seems to down a pint in the middle of a sentence:

I remember that series very well, with a young Brenda Blethyn invariably ending up in skimpy lingerie

I watched it with a bit of apprehension as I was only 15 when it aired and wondered if it was still funny?

I was very pleased to say it was!

Also, Bill Pertwee's character was much funnier than I remembered.

I remember a UK series in the early 90s called Chimera, about scientists creating a hybrid of man and ape. Remember it being fairly dramatic in my early teens.
I remember that. I've looked it up and can't find who played the hybrid but was it Warwick Davis inside the suit/make up? I may be misremembering or getting mixed up with something else.
I saw this again recently, via youtube, it hasn't aged well (not helped by the awful definition it was in), but still an interesting story I think.

Nobody here but us chickens... wink

'Sledge Hammer' from the late 1980's

Boardwalk Empire

Original Utopia

Red Riding

Preacher

Beastars

Brilliant Netflix anime about anthropomorphic animals living in a world were carnivores and herbivores live together and repress their instincts. Beautifully shot, very dark, and works on a lot of levels. Not suitable for kids (too much bunny rape...)

First 90 seconds sets the tone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kEeHJoYycMM

Really enjoyed the 'Red Riding' dramas, all three were very good, wouldn't mind seeing them again.

Romanzo Criminale

Fantastic show and the cars...yum
How many series are there...? Just found series 1 & 2 on Amazon, think I'll give it a whirl wink
Two,mate. Let me know what you think. I obviously loved it. Very gritty.
Romanzo Crimale! I forgot about that show. It is decent. Think I watched it on Sky Atlantic pre Netflix/Amazon Prime.

Which reminds me of another show from back then: Treme.

Set in New Orleans after the hurricane hit. Not amazing but I quite liked it.
Both series arrived from Amazon this yesterday so I started watching series one last night, three episodes in a row, loving it so far. The cars... blimey the cars...! Period Fiats, Alfas, Lancias, BMWs, Porsches, Citroens and Renaults everywhere, a gorgeous Innocenti Mini Cooper for one of the main characters, not to mention the vans and trucks in the background.... great stuff beer
