I am genuinely confused.
There are documentaries on what they did on Heat, that's why people care. If you wish to be an actor and require weapons training for what you're cast in, the 3 largest training providers in the UK use extracts of the film, and others, to illustrate points. Even the US Marines use parts of it for actual training, albeit I suspect piss in their ocean of requirements. I don't know who you're saying is humblebragging, or why my statement is one?

Heat (4k)
Nothing will ever change how great a film this is.
10/10
That. Nothing will ever change how great a film this is.
10/10
Literal textbook for weapons handling on screen.
I love Heat - but not because of the weapons in the movie. I think it's one of Michael Mann's best movies - but I like most of them to be fair - being a child of the 70s I started on Miami Vice in the 80s. The movie works because of good script, good acting, good score, good cinematography, great ending, and because you "buy into" the characters. I don't love it because of it's 'realistic gun handling'.
Sorry i wasnt' having a pop, i just thought your comment sounded more like personal bravado than film critique

Black Bag
A slick, clever, fun and thoughtful spy thriller from Soderbergh, his best film in years. I loved it. I can already predict it will be in my top 3 films of the year.
9/10
Just looked at my closest cinema and it's not showing at all. Next closest one has it on at ONE time on Saturday this weekend. A slick, clever, fun and thoughtful spy thriller from Soderbergh, his best film in years. I loved it. I can already predict it will be in my top 3 films of the year.
9/10
What a joke.

Get Carter
Saw it on the BBC2 schedule the other night. "I'm not watching that", I thought. "I've seen it often enough. I know it back to front and inside out."
So, yes, I watched it. Again. And I'll probably watch it next time I see it's on. In fact, I might just watch it on iPlayer shortly...

I saw this last night with the OH. We both thought it was great, mind you, she does like Michael Fassbender and I think Cate Blanchett is rather nice. It looks great and has a good plot IMO. I’d agree with the 9/10.

Ah, I'm really not that exciting. Anyway we've moved on!

Across 110th Street
1972, when films were basic and plots simple. Ripping off gangsters, a good yarn.
7/10 if you're in the mood to see Harlem before it got busy.
Rewatched Hot Fuzz, great film and one hell of cast
One of the subtitle modes on spaced was the "Homageometer" that told you what film or series was being referenced, I reckon Hot Fuzz could do with one too. There's clearly loads of references in it besides the obvious Point Break and Bad Boys II ones.

Moana 2
we loved moana 1 - similar to "inside out" and many others, it was enjoyable for adults and kids alike, with a lovely tale, spirit, and some funny moments and characters and a few good songs thrown in - we've watched it multiple times
moana 2 had none of this, and we are not sure why, we lasted 50mins - the story is woeful, even if it is a "kids" film, the songs seemed poorly written and didnt really give much energy to the story or get the film moving,
the animation felt flat and by the numbers, the first 20mins felt all over the place with lots of exposition that you had to pay attention to, that seemed to us, overly complex (with Moana on some island at the start with, finding a cup to show there are other people out there, only then to have the exact same message told to her by her vision from the ancestors and then told to her again by her grandma )
- very disappointing.
4/10 for the 50mins we saw.

What a joke.
So many films now only get the shortest cinema releases - often (but probably not here) so it can be included in potential awards nominations. Cinema generally is going the way of Blockbuster. What a joke.
Marching Powder
I read someone else's review of this which started something like "if you give this one star then it's your fault for going to see a Nick Love/Danny Dyer film without knowing what you were getting into". I'm caveating my review with this
I actually really enjoy their stuff, from the highs of The Football Factory, Goodbye Charlie Bright and The Business to the lows of Outlaw (imo, rate them how you want tbh). They're a specific genre of film and not for everyone.
This is probably my new favourite that they've done together. Kind of a sequel to Football Factory (in all but name), it follows a 40 something widebody who still thinks it's cool to batter someone on the weekend at a match. All the regular Nick Love cast are in it and the talent varies, but Dyer is actually the best I've seen him in anything. He's basically playing himself, granted, but it's less forced than FF and he really has grown over time. The plot focuses on Jacks need to change his life and sort himself out lest he lose his family and it's done really well imo. It doesn't abandon anything and the character arc is spot on in what I imagine could have been a tricky balance of the need to point out the futility of his life and the avoidance of making a mockery of him. In the end it settles on a really well rounded conclusion.
The humour, I thought, was brilliant. It switches between taking the Mick out of itself to some quite well delivered gags and I especially liked the fourth wall breaks throughout (another Love favourite but used differently here). Again it's perhaps an acquired taste but I had a great time, especially enjoyed his real son playing his characters son in this. Apparently he's no aspirations for acting but his back and forth with Dyer was excellent and very funny.
Out of the 3 new films I've seen in the last two weeks (Anora and Mickey 17 the other two), was this the most accomplished film? No. But it was the one I enjoyed the most and would rewatch immediately. Funny old world sometimes.
7/10 (for a fan of the genre/Love/Dyer, don't come for me if your mileage varies!)
(I'm still annoyed they had this on at multiple times but not Black Bag at all, but it's a British film and I'm happy it's getting supported)

Inheritance
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt31050620/
When Maya learns her father Sam was once a spy, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an international conspiracy
If you don't go in expecting the usual action packed spy thriller (which it seems it could be from description) then it is actually pretty decent, bit slow moving at points but enjoyed it al the same 6/10
