Clue - Amazon Prime

Um...what have I just watched? Genuinely cannot tell if it was good or terrible. rofl

Flashes of Jonathan Lynn of Yes Minister genius followed by awkward 80s misogyny and weird pacing.

Very strange. It's no Blazing Saddles.

5 candlesticks in the library out of 10 dead bodies.

Is that Clue the Tim Curry film that Knives Out got compared to a lot?

Yes. Knives Out was a much better film in every way though. Well, apart from Daniel Craigs accent of course. hehe

Great film. Pure cheese but finely crafted.

The Swimmer (1968) Burt Lancaster.

A man's life story is told as he hopscotches home, across a wealthy American suburb, via his neighbour's swimming pools. At each different home, as he encounters the owners, part of his predicament is revealed.

A clever concept, let down by Lancaster's acting limitations. A remake with the right actor in the lead could be really interesting.

I always thought this would work better as a stageplay. I find it claustrophobic.

The Predator (2018?), C4 on Fri or Saturday night.

Taped it thinking it was Predator (1987?)

3/10

I’m not really sure what I watched but it was a bit odd.

Remove the ridiculous ‘baddy’ leader who seems retarded, as he could have achieved his film goals by cooperating not just arbitrarily aggravating... and predator dogs, and the odd retarded scene like the two guys putting each other out of their misery, and it could have elevated itself to a 5/10!

Yeah it is pretty rubbish considering it was made by the guy who played Hawkins in the original film.

Only plus point was seeing the hot Olivia Munn on screen.

This franchise has the same issue as Terminator where they can't seem to top or do any thing better than T1 and T2, likewise P1 and P2 although I do like Predators as well.

There is a new one being made so fingers crossed for that one.

Is it just me, or it this film incredibly boring?

Ryan Goslig has zero charisma.

i think the second half of the movie he had nothing to do with, or was told by the studio to totally redo it, i think he's since disowned the movie!

Recorded this too, C4 HD... it looks really good in 1080p, and not something I’d buy on BR.
Plus it was on late, so not cutting of scenes like the top of head chop with the circular saw blade.

Then “24 hour party people” was on after it, also taped.

I just wish Film 4 HD was Free To Air.

In a moment of randomness my dad bought Commando on VHS when it was released in the UK (I believe 1989) - doubt he ever watched it, but as a result I've watched that bloody film way too many times.

Perfectly acted by Lancaster IMO, though I think in the book Cheever conveys better upon the reader the despair and delusion of the central character as he tries to rekindle his wafer-thin American Dream, something the film seems to take a while to impress upon the viewer. It's meant to be claustrophobic.

The claustrophobia is the combination of geographical scale/one man's self-absorption. Not sure how that would translate... .
