Dredd

Its not bad but he spends far too much time impersonating Sylvester Stallone with the facial expressions.

Do you not think that perhaps both of them were trying to portray the Dredd of the original comics?

Personally I thought it was a superb film and that Karl Urban really nailed the role, unlike Sylvester Stallone.

It's quite possible, in which case Stalone was a master stroke of casting because it's the same facial expression he pulls in all his films.

yes Loved Dredd, wish Karl Urban would make another. Though he isn't a character who demands a great emotional range from an actor!

Fatherhood - 2021 - Netflix
Drama starring Kevin Hart as the husband who as soon as his child is born, loses his wife due to complications.

Cue the story of him trying to bring up his daughter without a clue on what to do.
Shows the struggles of a single parent trying to juggle his life, work, relationships, meddling in laws and proving everyone who doubts him that he can do it.

As a drama with some comedic elements, Hart surprised me with how good he was in this as he doesn't normally do serious acting.

Feel good film which you will probably relate with if you are a single dad, something to watch with the Mrs.

Nothing new or amazing about it that hasn't been done before, however you'll either enjoy it or think it's was all soppy bks.

6.5/10

Not that I know much about him beyond the two films, but isn't a big part of his character that he never takes his helmet off? So it was pretty daft to hire a A list star who'd want their face on screen.

Just a heads up that the original Thunderbirds Are Go film is on Film4 at 4.45. Proper puppets, none of your CGI bobbins hehe

Agreed, the Karl Urban version was fantastic, better in every way then Stallones pastiche

Usually helps to have someone who knows and likes the source material in the lead role.

To be honest, the only thing I can remember about the Stallone one is the modified Landrover 101's biggrin

I quite liked aspects of the earlier Dredd film. The ABC warrior was excellent, as was Mean Angel.

It’s almost impossible to condense Dredd into a film. The proposed series has a lot of potential.

yes The story was weak, but they nailed Megacity 1 and the other visuals. I even quite liked "I knew you'd do that".

The Karl Urban Dredd could have been anyone.

agree about Dredd - i liked the original, although took some liberties to make it a holywood movie, rather than an out and out faithful conversion - the Karl one seemed boring a little to me.

The Karl Urban one was superior as it was more of a homage to the artwork of the original material, not just a story about a lawmaker/enforcer. Loved this, re-watch it fairly regularly.

Crying shame everyone thought it was a rip off of the raid when it was written before it. I think Urban was up for a sequel until fairly recently, but it just didn't make enough money for the studio to consider it.
A decent budget Netflix show would be awesome, but it aint gonna happen.

oh well, we just get to see the next remake / reboot that no one really wanted instead.

Death Wish 3

I had never seen any Death Wish movies before and now realise how little I have been missing.

Charles Bronson fights the worlds most inept and camp criminal gang.

3 out of 10.max

The original film is excellent.
