“The Gentlemen” I found I enjoyed it more on a 2nd viewing.
Excellent stuff from Mr Ritchie and agree, a second viewing is a must.
The chip shop scene still makes me chuckle when I think about it.

But not when you don't.

Peanut butter Falcon- We watched that last night with the takeaway. A man with down syndrome runs away from a residential nursing home to pursue his dream of becoming a wrestler. Later, he meets with an outlaw who becomes his friend and coach. Just a lovely film about friendship, the setting and music really works well together as well. I would happily watch it again. Also 1 hour 37, a great length.
PBF deffo one of my favorites. Really good performances all round. Always was slightly put off with Shia, but sounds like Honey Boy was a bit more of a docu about his experiences and you get a bit of an insight into him. Think I'll rewatch PBF later : )
Thank you both for mentioning this. Just watched it with Ms G and we loved it. A few tears were shed along with many laughs - it’s a lovely film.

Quite so.
Its a decent fun film.
Apparently a teenager decides to become a superhero - meaning I'd only watch it at gunpoint !
It is a black comedy, not a superhero movie. No one has superpowers. It is funny.
It’s an awesome film.
Its was quite an ear opener hearing a 12 yr old curse.....also the v first scene where the character leaps off the building and pancakes on a taxi, that was actually my head office building in Toronto

There was certainly an element of shock value what with her foul mouth and violence, although I was rather uncomfortable how sexualised she was given the age of the character. Especially with the, er, "positive comments" (If you know what I mean) that a lot of guys made about her not least here on PH and also other forums.

I did like how the film didn't take itself seriously, which made the film very enjoyable and mitigated a lot of the above.

By contrast, "Kick Ass 2" lost all of that charm by taking itself seriously and also trying to shoehorn in a teen angst / high school sub-plot that just totally fell flat.

I think it was more it followed the source material too closely, which meant it just ended up just dark and unpleasant, compared to the original film which was (mostly) quite fun.

That's the problem with quite a few things like this - go too far back to following the original graphic novel and you'll find something warped that you don't really want to get into.

Ghostbusters Afterlife

Was surprising not bad. I'd been avoiding becouse it appeared to be just another cash in of a classic

Had the inevitable cameo for the original team but it was OK

The Ipcress File. 1965 Michael Caine.

Passed a pleasant couple of hours yesterday. Some great classic cars.

I was just shocked to discover that Ernie Hudson is the oldest of the remaining 3 'busters

You're right, and by a good few years. yet looks the think end of 20 years younger than his actual age, fair play to him

Yes, "dark and unpleasant" sums up Kick Ass 2 very well. yes

It definitely lacked the sense of fun the first film had.

Saw this at the cinema this afternoon. It was OK but I wouldn't pay to see it. Wait until it's available for streaming, which should be soon. 5/10

Not sure there was a lot of point in remaking this while the original exists in all it's 80's glory.

Half of Stranger Things is a homage to it.

Lazy evening last night and I've seen a few clips from The other guys recently, so put it on, still funny and an easy watch.

Spontaneous (on Netflix)

High school students start exploding at random into showers of gore.

Sort of a romantic comedy(!), watchable enough and well made if slightly thin as a story.

Doesn't appear in my Netflix. Doesn't come up in a search either, even though Google says it is on Netflix.

Maybe it just appears and you have to watch it there and then otherwise you miss it smile
