Peanut butter Falcon- We watched that last night with the takeaway. A man with down syndrome runs away from a residential nursing home to pursue his dream of becoming a wrestler. Later, he meets with an outlaw who becomes his friend and coach. Just a lovely film about friendship, the setting and music really works well together as well. I would happily watch it again. Also 1 hour 37, a great length.
PBF deffo one of my favorites. Really good performances all round. Always was slightly put off with Shia, but sounds like Honey Boy was a bit more of a docu about his experiences and you get a bit of an insight into him. Think I'll rewatch PBF later : )garyhun said:

Its was quite an ear opener hearing a 12 yr old curse.....
There was certainly an element of shock value what with her foul mouth and violence, although I was rather uncomfortable how sexualised she was given the age of the character. Especially with the, er, "positive comments" (If you know what I mean) that a lot of guys made about her not least here on PH and also other forums.I did like how the film didn't take itself seriously, which made the film very enjoyable and mitigated a lot of the above.
By contrast, "Kick Ass 2" lost all of that charm by taking itself seriously and also trying to shoehorn in a teen angst / high school sub-plot that just totally fell flat.

I think it was more it followed the source material too closely, which meant it just ended up just dark and unpleasant, compared to the original film which was (mostly) quite fun. That's the problem with quite a few things like this - go too far back to following the original graphic novel and you'll find something warped that you don't really want to get into.

Ghostbusters Afterlife
Was surprising not bad. I'd been avoiding becouse it appeared to be just another cash in of a classic
Had the inevitable cameo for the original team but it was OK
6.5/10

Yes, "dark and unpleasant" sums up Kick Ass 2 very well. It definitely lacked the sense of fun the first film had.

Saw this at the cinema this afternoon. It was OK but I wouldn't pay to see it. Wait until it's available for streaming, which should be soon. 5/10
Not sure there was a lot of point in remaking this while the original exists in all it's 80's glory.Saw this at the cinema this afternoon. It was OK but I wouldn't pay to see it. Wait until it's available for streaming, which should be soon. 5/10
Half of Stranger Things is a homage to it.

Spontaneous (on Netflix)
High school students start exploding at random into showers of gore.
Sort of a romantic comedy(!), watchable enough and well made if slightly thin as a story.
Doesn't appear in my Netflix. Doesn't come up in a search either, even though Google says it is on Netflix.High school students start exploding at random into showers of gore.
