Prometheus 1080p bluray disc.

I watch it every year, every year it gets better with age but the cuts Scott made to the original film towards the end regarding the engineer make me feel bitter more as time passes.

8.5/10
Better in what respect? confused

I find it utterly unwatchable. Plot holes you could drive the Nostromo through and so-called scientists making poor decisions that even children wouldn't make

It's one of the worst junk science films ever

But it does look nice with great cinematography. Maybe that's what you meant.
Covenant makes it look like perfection by comparison. Now *that* is a bad film.

Prometheus is mostly rubbish but it does have one or two good(ish) bits.

The Ridley Scott prequels are dead now aren't they? The planned 3rd film not happening?

So the next Alien stuff is going to be Noah Harley's TV series on FX in America so probably Disney+ here.

Oh. It started about ten minutes ago, and I'm recording it. Waste of time?

You might like it, give it a go, it isn't costing anything and you can always skip through it.

Tetris

All about the creation of the game in the 1980s Soviet union and how a Dutch/American struggled to gain the licence for distribution.

It may have been slightly overly dramatic but I quite enjoyed it, helped by the 1980s music.

I was following the video game business at the time and remember the stories of the complex negotiations. I thought the presentation of late 80s Moscow was very well done (no idea if truly accurate though)

Fascinating story.

I watched a very good documentary on it several years ago that someone had uploaded to YouTube. It was, as you say, fascinating.

The fact that the guy who actually conceived it and wrote it had no legal or commercial rights over it was very sad and is kind of everything that is wrong with Communism IMHO

edit: Mind you, when Steve Wozniak invented the first Apple he had to seek permission from his current employer to let him retain the rights to it. So I guess it isn't totally Communism.

edit2: Although that little snippet was from the film dramatisation of the Apple story so could be bks

it's a divisive film is Prometheus but the deleted scenes changed the way I saw the film, maybe once they are readded via an extended version it will be looked at more favourably by more people.

maybe it will appear once Romulus is nearing release.

Have to agree with the feelings on Prometheus, it doesn't quite hit the spot.

The cinematography is good as someone said, the opening scene was filmed in Iceland at the Detifoss waterfall. I didn't know it at the time but I've stood right where the lead character did. It's a bit of a drive but well worth it if anybody goes up that way.

A quick google suggests that he did eventually receive some royalties and is currently worth $20m. I guess a lot of other people got a lot richer off his work but at least he’s seen some reward.

Cocaine Bear

Fun and Keri Russell is a total milf.

Prometheus as a standalone sci-fi movie is visually stunning and has an intriguing plot IMO.

Yes it does but also has glaring moments of stupidity by the characters that don't really fit their positions. It had so much potential yet came away with a 'must try harder'.

"Must try harder " for what? Given the genre of sci-fi is based almost entirely on fanciful thinking people seem to expect a bit much. I think it's easy to over analyse Prometheus because some expected more as Alien fans, and yes there's plot holes in the roles played but show me a movie that hasn't got any. smile Just take it for what it is... .

Dungeons and Dragons (2023)

It was ok... Mildy entertainting but probably aimed at pre-teens.

That's a tad difficult when Rafe Spall is trying to pet the black slime mamba alien killer snake.

Dungeons and Dragons at the cinema this weekend.

It's okay but not great. Loosely based on the game books, with probably more references to the books than I spotted. The plot and story are fine. It's a perfectly coherent fantasy adventure. Everyone even has plausible motives and acts accordingly. But there really isn't any charisma or chemistry among the leads. If Hugh Grant had had more time on screen you would have been rooting for him. 6/10

Obviously made an impression on you. I'm sure the director didn't mean you to interpret the scene that way, amateur that he is. Who knows. Anyway, suspension of disbelief and all that.

The worst bit for me, iirc.

Cartography man is lost in cave. His very own probes went off and scanned the cave system upon their entry.
Man back at HQ is in direct comms with the map at hand.

Man remains lost.

B movies are better. It’s C movie but with AAA budget.

The Zack Snyder Justice League film.

I thought Justice League as released in cinemas was a mess. A half baked and rushed response to the Avengers films, too many ill defined characters, cookie cutter villains, and visually annoying fight scenes.

The ZS cut runs to almost 4 hours. And yet it works far, far better. It’s now a cohesive film telling a story quite well. Recommended.
