The worst bit for me, iirc.
Cartography man is lost in cave. His very own probes went off and scanned the cave system upon their entry.
Man back at HQ is in direct comms with the map at hand.
Man remains lost.
B movies are better. It’s C movie but with AAA budget.
An awful, glaring error, certainly. No doubt the C movie Bladerunner was similarly ruined when you realized Roy Batty should have lived for another two months. Didn't seem to bother millions of others though... .Cartography man is lost in cave. His very own probes went off and scanned the cave system upon their entry.

"Must try harder " for what? Given the genre of sci-fi is based almost entirely on fanciful thinking people seem to expect a bit much.
I suspect that you don't really 'get' Sci-Fi in that case.Good Sci-Fi establishes its rules / framework / world and then is self-consistent within that, with people behaving plausibly within that. It's the Science in Science-Fiction, and it's what many fans of the genre care about a lot.
For example, with Superman we accept his powers. But if he lifts an aircraft by its wingtip, and we haven't established that Superman has a special forcefield that strengthens metal, and he lifts the aircraft by its wingtip rather than it snapping clean off, then it's perfectly acceptable to call that out as being stupid. To say "Oh, you're fine with Superman having super strength and being able to fly, but you have a problem with the wing not snapping off?" is to announce that you don't get it.
(Not having a go at you btw, so please don't take it personally and lay into me)

And worse, the captain then switches off the radio and says "Good luck. See you in the morning" (or words to that effect). Cartography man is lost in cave. His very own probes went off and scanned the cave system upon their entry.

No, I 'get' Sci-Fi. I don't think you can have a graded suspension of disbelief, it's all a fiction but as you say, and as I've alluded to, fans of the genre may apply a more critical eye. which is why I said as a standalone movie it was OK. Do you think there are many movies, of any genre, that don't have glaring plot/script errors? I've pointed out a huge one in Bladerunner, how is it that Prometheus is the movie most frequently labelled very poor when it contains no more errors that many others?Good Sci-Fi establishes its rules / framework / world and then is self-consistent within that, with people behaving plausibly within that. All about the creation of the game in the 1980s Soviet union and how a Dutch/American struggled to gain the licence for distribution.
It may have been slightly overly dramatic but I quite enjoyed it, helped by the 1980s music.

I enjoyed that, got a bit silly at the end but worth a watch - cheersAll about the creation of the game in the 1980s Soviet union and how a Dutch/American struggled to gain the licence for distribution.

Famously there's a car in the background in one scene from Braveheart. did it ruin the movie for millions? Of course not because a. it was a trivial irregularity and b. no one really cared as it didn't effect the movie in any way.
I'm not sure what you are trying to prove here, but I know better than to get into an argument with you. So I will leave you to your opinion. Suffice to say that your examples are, at best spurious and at worst strawmen.

Run. Sideways. Away. From. The. Thing.
I suppose you could assume that they are so scared that they are not thinking straight and don't think about jumping out of the way. Reminds me of when Christine kills Buddy because he doesn't get off the road, its at 2:36 in the link.Run. Sideways. Away. From. The. Thing.

I’ve seen a couple today.
Creed III - a bit like you’d expect of a Rocky film without Rocky.
Totally bizarre replacement for a round montage during the final fight.
The weakest film of the trilogy.
6/10
Dungeons and dragons. Proclaimed by some as the movie of the year. It isn’t. Not entirely without merit, but instantly forgettable. The best moments are ones lifted from other movies.
It’s okay though.

You said that a few weeks ago during a different exchange between us, despite my comments being neither spurious nor strawmen. Heyho popeyewhite said:

Blade Runner is st too, Denis Villenueve did a much better job with the IP.I have a weird relationship with Ridley Scott, he's made some of my favourite ever films but I also think he's hugely over rated and get's a pass on quality sometimes due to his reputation.
With the Alien movies, Prometheus and Covenant are nowhere near the standard of the original lot of films. I personally think that it's because Scott is trying to add lore to the series in hindsight but he's ignoring all the movie and expanded lore that already exists. Covenant is responsible for one of my favourite bizarre little moments in cinema though.

This was the most stupid of all the stupid things in the film. Run. Sideways. Away. From. The. Thing.
Incidentally not all the previous Alien movies were good IMO, just the first two. Alien 3 was very poor, And 4 was only OK. Rose tinted specs?

Yeah, the thing I like about the old Alien movies is it’s more of an experiment than a series. Give 4 writers and directors the same basic premise and see what they do with it.
They all have their moments, I never looked at resurrection the same when I realised that Joss Whedon had used the characters from Firefly as the pirate crew though.
