Especially "To prepare for 2021, which will not take place according to the usual criteria both in terms of the number of events on-site and in terms of welcoming spectators, we must take certain essential decisions to protect our activities."

To me, the best thing about the ACO statement is that they are remaining positive about the future.

There's no chance of 2021 being like 2019 and before

Got to be a fair chance that it'll be another September race.

Indeed. Even if it is just as an easy way to limit the demand. Lots of ticket prices rises too, no doubt.

I think it is fair to predict that LM ‘21 will most likely be restricted like this years race.

A bit depressing to think like this already.

It all depends on what happens with the vaccines, and no one commenting is an expert on this, even the scientists, because it is a journey into the unknown.
As anyone specialising in the spread of viruses will tell you (I can't even remember what name to give them) once you get up to 20% of people vaccinated with a working vaccine, its days of controlling our lives are numbered.

The current front runner is due for release they are expecting later this year. In all areas they are predicting mainstream roll out to by Spring. If that is true and really happens we will have a confident world by around Feb / March - we will still have controls and face mask rules, but people will stop giving a st by June, and lots of people will get drunk and break rules, and a hell of a lot of them will get caught out and die at that eleventh hour.

This assumes the vaccine works. If it doesn't, then we are really f****kd and I'll start looking at time machines or suicide options.

150 programmes worldwide, at the moment you'd have to bet on something working.

I would agree 2022 is a given as normal life, 2021, normal Le Mans, not fully, but I will be booking my ferry soon.

That's what I was thinking. Even if we had a vaccine next week, they won't have given it to everybody by June, so September is a safer bet if you want to avoid closed doors and/or a postponement.

They're short of money but are going to build a new pit complex - I didn't think there was much wrong with the current one. It is 25 years old, probably a bit small and the roof grandstand is a bit steep with limited view, but its a large and expensive piece of concrete.

The ACO have announced job losses and postponements of projects, might not be seeing the pit grandstand changes any time soon

It make sense to postpone the decision for as long as possible in the hope of having a race post vaccine - ie doors open

The only surprise is that it’s taken so long for that decision.

Got to be a real prospect of WEC Bahrain not happening and assume that the Dubai 24 is already off?

There's never really anybody at WEC Bahrain anyway, so probbaly the safest race of all...

In all seriousness, the WEC Covid guidelines and the Bahrain test/entry requirements are very comprehensive, so I would be surprised if it is canned.

The grid is the grid, I was referring to spectators. At least China buses them in on the promise of a free meal laugh

No no, right country. Bahrain, empty stands. China, occupied stands but they're bussed in on the promise of a free meal. More people in the stands in China.

But anyway, back to 2021, the ACO are going to be absolutely desperate for cash by then, so I'd imagine the big thinkers in France will be doing all they can to get the races held. As for the general state of WEC, that's another (quite big) concern, but hopefully 2021/22 will see a resurgence as at least they appear to be listening when they announce mad new rules and then are willing to rescind them (LMP2).

I've lost track completely.

Is it still a July to June season?

Hypercars may exist but what happened to LMDP?

LMP2 seemed to be working well - lots of entries/good racing etc - has this been trashed to make Hypercars look good?

Yes/No answers will suffice.
