I don't mind the adverts on Youtube as long as they are not the really long ones that go on for five minutes or the ones that are an entire music video for some rubbish single someone is releasing.

Adverts on the videos enables the content providers to make a living well some money at least and also pays for the up-keep of the servers and infrastructure of Youtube.

I had an ‘ad’ served to me at the end of a video the other month which was (what looked like) a 43 minute programme from African TV!!

Completely different language and 43 mins long confused

Strange.

The Car Throttle podcast continues to be a fantastic listen (or watch, as most podcasts seem to be going)

What CT seems to have got right with the multi presenter/host format that so many others seem to struggle with is that they don't try and replicate the old Top Gear hosts or try and imitate their personalities. Car Trek was good, but it just seemed like they weren't being themselves and falling into almost forced roles.

The new season of Top Gear America on Motortrend falls into this trap, Dax Shepard, Jethro Bovingdon and Rob Corddry might work well together, but all their interactions are just forced and don't come across as genuine and natural.

YT ads are based upon your browsing, not what the video's producer selects.

Wasn't there a (probably) Archie Hamilton video where they all met up with their cars and Paul claimed it was worth £200k? I seem to Remember Tony laughing and saying if you want to sell it in two years you should start advertising it now?

https://youtu.be/rQ3rujotBsk?t=448

There you go, also shows the fantastic condition it is/was in.

Tony also commented that he originally told Paul to leave it at VVS and not even pick it up......

Tony told him it would take a long time to sell it on. I think it will be the same with the Nissan GT-R after he's chavved it up with fake carbon and goodness knows what else...

But the latest dealer who is attempting to flog GD58FFS is of exemplary character

He sure knows how to back the wrong horse. I felt sorry for him in that YouTube clip... he can't keep up with his richer peers frown

Digital oddity this week...

YouTube seems to have knocked off my subscriptions to a couple of channels and has started pushing videos I’ve already watched onto my iPad homepage.

Alongside that, I’d already unsubscribed to Mat Armstrong but found I had been resubscribed when his latest one dropped in the list.

Thankfully it hasn’t started to push JWW, SOL or Hubnut vids just yet.

I knew he was banned from driving, but I didn't know why, I always liked to look at the advert in the paper on a Sunday of what cars they had for sale and I liked the story about how some builder or painter walked into his showroom all in his work gear and wanted a Ferrari I cannot but he had to have it there and then, because a Ferrari dealer up the road had told him to basically get out their showroom because of how he looked and he said that you don't know who anyone is so just treat them all the same, the guy then proceeded to drive his new Ferrari past the official dealer that had told him to get out and give them the finger or something similar, however he does come across sometimes as TOO flash imo.

I don't know, Paul is a self confessed Mr Lamborghini, he didn't take the advice of a car dealer friend who more than knows what he is on about, he knew the car had big issues and should have costed the repairs before he got the car, in the video I don't know they seem to be actually laughing at him for what he has done, even though he would have been warned by Tony at least and Tom isn't stupid either and I am sure he would have said something, I get the thing like Salomondrin, Manny Khoshbin and Producer Micheal have said, don't let people tell you that you cannot do something or not to do or try something, but that is very different to blowing £200k of someone else's money on a car that you KNOW has a very chequered history and needs what £20,000 of work, the paint cost £10,000 so I think it is a fair guess there was another £10,000 spent on the car.

In other news, some scumbag has stolen the carbon mirror caps off Becky's M3.

I'm actually trying to work out how Paul has any subscribers or why anyone views his stuff. I tried watching a few of his latest videos that are utter garbage with either clickbait titles or just 10 minutes of babbling about nonsense. He comes across as a guy with next to no knowledge of cars or indeed anything mechanical who just reads from a script. I always felt that his videos with Shmee and Seen Through Glass were a sympathy gesture like the weird kid at school who you let hang with you because you felt bad.

Maybe I'm being too harsh.

When he's doing a video on something he's genuinely passionate about it's a brilliant watch. And the chemistry between Shmee, STG, JWW and Seb when they did their road trips comes across on video as well and it made for some genuinely watchable content.

As everyone else has moved on Paul seems to be still stuck in 2015 era YouTube and unfortunately it just doesn't work anymore. Shmee has a massively impressive fleet and is currently road tripping across America, STG did his drive the world and upped his video quality to rival that of big budget TV and has the quality vs quantity balance sussed, JWW has his fingers in all sorts of pies and I'll admit I don't watch Seb anymore but apparently his French channel is flying, owns a Scud and has a Ford GT on order. Watch a SOL video from 5 or 6 years ago and nothing much will have changed.

His drift series had potential as it was something he was good at, but he scrapped that because audience interaction/view numbers weren't great. It's just been a steady decline since. The whole Murci saga had potential to turn things around, but his 'dream' changed more than once and there's barely any content worth watching on it. There was the whole series of importing the Ferrari 458 from Dubai which mysteriously vanished too. I'm not sure how long the bike content will last on a superCAR themed YouTube channel. The Nissan GTR stuff just seems like it's a few years too late. Just seems there's no coherence or quality with any of his videos at the moment, which is a genuine shame.

Does anyone else get the feeling that some posters on this forum (not the most recent) are likely around age 14 and spend their whole lives watching every car channel on YouTube......... Anyone with any other channel recommendations to watch that haven't been mentioned recently?

Trying too hard and spectacularly failing, like Jose Mourinho at Tottenham Hotspur biggrin

If it's not the forced creepy laughter such as when he was driving Tony's Merc GT (no doubt explaining how great the car is, with all his "knowledge") then it's just the aimless content on anything he can get his hands on. He might as well show us his new Ducati "Lamborghini" bike he got the other week (not yet featured on the channel). Content seems to be mooching around other people's dealerships to test drive their stock rolleyes

Lol about the weird kid at school hehe I felt that with the doomed Scottish trip, I have never seen Sam go in on anyone, but he revelled in that moment when the stricken Lamborghini had to go back on the trailer after a freak coolant leaks ( had no money left to look after the engine or interior of the car having spent everything repainting it biggrin ). I get the impression that most of the YouTubers put up with a visit from Paul (cringeworthy video of him wrapping his Nissan GT-R at Yiannimize and being over excited, kept the wrap for less than a month, impromptu visits to Saxton 4x4 and test driving cars while embarrassed staff try to accommodate him), more Charades than Daihatsu, Paul's the gift that keeps giving laugh

That era does seem to have been a high point for 'vlog style' content - just a group of mates on a road trip having a laugh. But, as everyone says that's not sustainable as a YT business so people have to produce more popular but worse content (IYSWIM).

I still subscribe to both SOL and STG but I can't recall when I last watch any of their content - literally years now I suspect - not out of malice but because none of their videos has caught my interest in the huge list of daily videos in my subscriber feeds.
