Thanks all - I did a reasonable amount of due diligence on it, and AV have gone over it fairly well so we now know where we stand. The fact it actually is the correct colour makes a big difference because I can now just paint the sections of the car in need.

Which bit of music did you like - the one for the Lambo reveal or the end montage? I can look up what it is
The reveal please

Another very will done from me too James. There's a lot of doable project potential on that car, but at least you know the motor is as bullet proof as possible after that rebuild and it's useable between the various jobs.

Is this the first step into going into full on Hoovie for the UK - "I bought the cheapest..."?
Is Aldous going to be like Weee-zard?

And another well done from me James, just watched the video. I can absolutely identify with that nagging feeling of really wanting a car so badly its all you can think about biggrin

Keep the updates coming, I'd love to see how you get on with it smile

In fairness Hoovie and I have made similar purchases a few times before.

Aldous was a key part of this purchase - without knowing he'd been over the car and done the work, it would have been a hard pass.

Naturally there will be a "Everything wrong with the world's cheapest Gallardo" video - happily, I already know what is wrong with it and the worst of it is the ridiculous cost of some trim pieces I need to get.

The real bits that need doing are two ball joints, and I will need better tyres for it ASAP. Otherwise I think I'll enjoy it over summer as it is, make a list of things to fix, then do the cosmetic restoration over winter.

It's gonna get a lot of use this year!

Congratulations JayEmm! The Gallardo will certainly be more fun than a new bathroom!

I’ll be following with interest and looking forward to the next video outlining the work that needs to be done. Hopefully it’ll treat you well!

Also, I just noticed that you’re posting a video a day! You’re an absolute machine! I have a channel myself (not car related) and I’m comfortable with 1-2 episodes a week - I’d be burnt out consistently publishing a video every day. Fair play to you! smile

Quick question; I have an F-Type V6S, but thinking of changing it for an AM V8V Roadster (4.3l, manual). Ideally, I want a more involving drive. Would you recommend such a swap?

The Aston is the better drive, but it's not immediately apparent. It may feel woolier than the Jag but the steering is actually superb and very feelsome. The chassis also might feel softer but is actually just better damped.

Interior is better in some ways, worse in others. Definitely feels special.

Congrats Jayemm, big gamble, hopefully it works out!

Quick question, I may have missed it on the video, but what was the maroon colour paint you mentioned from if indeed the car is a factory blue colour? Is it simply an undercoat/primer of sorts?

I was the person who asked so it's only fair to say I'm 38, although I look a bit younger and act a lot younger.

So how old are you then 614-HSO?
He or she never did answer, they just went quiet until the JWW video comment. Maybe had a lot of homework to do before back to school next week...... smile I'm 46 btw, and I also like to think I act younger but sadly I don't look any younger

Another congrats for James, I enjoyed the Lambo reveal and that's a car history that would have Ed Bolian of VinWiki reaching for the chequebook. I've now subscribed so I can see how it goes

That is what we think - there's plenty of it in the engine bay as it got scratched so many times with the engine going in and out like a yoyo.

I phoned a Lambo dealer and gave them the reg - they came back with Blu Caelum as the factory colour and that's what it is

I'm not really into the whole supercar thing but that looks great. Nice colour too. (Thank goodness it's not purple or pink!)
