+1The only Porsche of that type I like is Phil's of Driftworks and that's only because him and Jay do virtually all the work themselves and I like seeing the engineering. His is very clean but most others to me look like they have ram-raided Halfords
Apart from all that they're great.

100%, he's a smart businessman.
I once offered to help paul film and said I could bring my drone etc to get nice shots. He knew back then (this was probably 4 years ago) it didn't get him any extra views, but did cost a lot in time and effort, plus if you do it too much your audience comes to expect it and it's harder to go back.
It makes me chuckle to call him a 'businessman' since he seems like he is just entertainer of kids. Albeit successful one but I don't think it will last. I think we will see a decline and people will move on and it will be old shmee.I once offered to help paul film and said I could bring my drone etc to get nice shots. Shmee has had an unchallenged, considerable lead of all the UK automotive youtubers for around 10 years now, which is pretty unheard of in any sort of media.
Jon, as a person from the tyre industry, I am loving your content. A bit envious, but at least we were at the GY Supersport event a few years back too jackcactii said:

Car Throttle have always had similar monthly viewing figures to him I thought, which is impressive given their much smaller back catalogue. Carwow obviously much bigger now.
Even Driver61 which although is a one man band focused more on Motorsport is also pulling in more views per month. Which is impressive given the slightly niche subject matter.
Just speaking personally, when a bunch of videos on a new car came out I used to watch Shmee first, today I always watch Carfection 1st then watch the Carwow for performance stats. Shmee's gradual downward trend of monthly views over the past 18months shows how competitive the space is nowadays.

Good point about Driver61, dude has been a churn machine recently and it's paid off. I fear the issue he will have is at some point most of the really viral content will have been done, and the ongoing content will have a smaller reach.
It will be interesting to see how he keeps the channel going, but he's been uploading things REALLY quickly post race.
I'd love to know what licences he has for the content he uses.

At the mention of a Testarossa, I’m interested. It seems that I am not alone in watching the TGE videos with his older, more characterful cars.
Is he not too young to have had an Athena poster on his wall? Anyway, it’s a stunning car (apart from the additional prancing horse on the front), which I hope that he enjoys and that we get to see more of.
This seems to be one of his “investment” car purchases like the CGT. Must have what, a £1.5m garage now? Is he not too young to have had an Athena poster on his wall? Anyway, it’s a stunning car (apart from the additional prancing horse on the front), which I hope that he enjoys and that we get to see more of.

Fair points, though i don't classify CT and Carwow as vloggers, they have significant teams of people and businesses alongside the youtube channel.

Fair points about CT but I would say Shmee150 is a company too with employees, multiple income streams and merchandise it's just more superficially at least, a one man band.Good point about Driver61, dude has been a churn machine recently and it's paid off. Driver61 I was surprised to see all the F1 footage being used in his reviews etc and wondered the same. A quick check now shows that all those reviews have been deleted and looks like just photos being used. Given that those views will have been deleted, 8million in a month is still very good. As you said it's going to start getting challenging to keep finding material. I do miss his old circuit guides for trackdayers but I guess there's only about 10 of us who watch those
Shows the nonsense of YouTube that SOL’s non-content gets more views and subs than quality pieces like this,

Nonsensical comparison. SOLs channel has been going for 5x longer than those ones. And no adverts for ball shaving products.

Never heard of morethancars, but it doesn't look like something I'd enjoy watching.
I've been enjoying some of the reviews by Supercar Driver, and also Rory Reid on Autotrader. Both are high quality productions.

I think it's Carfection which does it best.
Carfection have gone a bit stale for me of late, despite some interesting subject material. I'm not sure why.I've been enjoying some of the reviews by Supercar Driver, and also Rory Reid on Autotrader. Both are high quality productions.
