k, and no one who wasn’t a schoolboy would buy one.
I’ve driven a few EV’s and I suggest there is some work to be done on feedback of how much power the drivetrain is delivering. It’s a bigger problem with motorbikes for obvious reasons. My kid low sided his electric motorbike on his first ride of it. He has never come close to doing that on much more powerful petrol bikes... the noise and vibration of a an IC engine provide feedback.

Surely there must be a way to limit amount of Power going to an electric motor through software to mimic a rev range. In a sporty body with good pipes in sound this would make a good sports car. Why is no one doing this to win over petrol heads? Could even out in a manual.

Instant torque where for emission reasons and auto gearboxes and turbos most new ICEs tend to be hesitant.
Hyper miling is a satisfying challenge just like having to choose the right gear.
When you're within the range, which is most days, you can use the acceleration without worrying about mpg.

There are several EV conversions of classic cars that keep a working gearbox in place. In nearly all cases you put it in 3rd gear and forget about it...

Well in my iPace, I have had to plug my car in at night (never had to do that in my ICE cars, completely unacceptable of manufacturers to expect me to do that).
And twice I have had to top up the screenwash. I have also hoovered it out a couple of times.
Maintenance free? I don't think so...
Not having a gear lever/box is for me the worst thing about EV’s. I know that they have instant torque but it’s missing something without a gearbox. Maybe not for the town commute but as a drivers or track car. I’d like to see some development in this area, something that mimics a gearbox, maybe you have gears that speed limit the car in each gear, so 28 in first 59 in second etc. Perhaps having a ecu that limits torque in each gear so that it gives the impression of having a gearbox. Yes I get the fact that it is pointless to the majority but I view it as a virtual reality kind of thing designed to give more driver pleasure. I am not convinced that this would never happen. Like I say it’s about creating the feeling of driving an ice car.

That's a bit disingenuous, any vehicle be it ice or EV can throw a major bill. Let's hold off and see how many are still daily drivers like my 19 yr old Audidoodi. trickywoo said:

Unlike an EV that is pretty much dealer only - plus most are still under warranty. Oh, and I own the whole car, I don't rent bits.... On a side note, is it true the Pious is the most crashed hybrid? Taxi drivers or knackered batteries insurance fraud?

The ability to emulate ICE would be great for weekend / fun cars.
Clearly most people aren’t petrolheads and don’t care, but for the enthusiasts the ability to mimic the sound a and power delivery of older/classic cars should hold some appeal.
It’s exactly what the driving simulators seek to do. Just choosing a car with unlimited power and torque gets pretty boring pretty quickly.

Odd thing to say, cars have been getting more and more reliable and last longer than ever before, are you saying we are going to take a step backwards with BEV?Do you expect to still be using the same mobile phone in 19 years?
