Think it worked for Rogue One, not so much here.
Show a couple of experiments, st gets out of hand , no weapons so fashion a few out of what they have, decide to barricade themselves in as a last stand and the Aliens still get in and take everyone to the cooling tower.

End story.

Not enough to work with for a full feature imo, maybe as a short.
End story. Except for one little girl.

From the Xenomorph point of view, they thought they’d dealt with the pesky human infestation, but Newt is like the last little alien baby the survives at the end of the film as the credits roll.

That means only 3 of the 9 credited cast members are still with us.

Absolutely recommend this book:

It takes Gigers designs from concept to actual creation.

Snap... I bought that book when I was on my design degree. Agreed, it's cracking.

I must’ve got it 15-20 years ago. Got a couple of books on Gigers Artwork.

Birth Machine is my favourite piece.

Couldn't afford the others at the time. Seem to recall, even 20 odd years ago, they were very spendy.

And this one. No, really.

I originally bought it as a present for my nephew, but it's so charming I just kept it to show him when he comes round. Need to get the other Jonsey book as well.

There’s a documentary on Alien that I’ve only just discovered. Well worth watching (despite the slightly odd opening).

Can anyone recommend which Blu-ray DVD set to buy to get the extended versions and particularly the Alien 3 Assembly version - do all the new blu-ray sets now have the deleted scenes included?

I must be one of very few people that like A3 and AR almost as much as the first two.

They could've gone overboard and upped the ammo count after Aliens but instead chose a more pared back single alien against a low tech foe. Dodgy CGI aside, the characters i feel are decently fleshed out and there are some great scenes and dialogue.

AR went big again with the visuals, good cast, good quotes, good cinematography. Winona Ryder lets it down a touch, and the ending is a teeny bit clunky.

Prometheus just about gets a pass, too many silly horror tropes coming to the fore whereas they had been pretty serious movies before.

Covenant.... the first third works out ok.. then it dissolves in MF love in and the ending is just diabolically lifted wholesale from Aliens.

Not sure where RS can go to revive this, obviously he likes the creator storyline and world around it, but for me that doesn't make a great "alien" movie

Really would've liked to have seen Neil Blomkamp have a go at it

The Assembly edition of A³ is pretty good, IMHO. The scene where Dance is walking outside with the cranes has a very 2001AD feel to it.

The actor who played the Alien in Alien was a 6'10" Nigerian visual artist spotted by a member of the casting team in a Soho pub. It was his only film role.

Saw this in my local paper:

Sulaco/Nostromo occasionally come up in pub quizzes, pleasing me no end.
