its the sort of thing that should be on TV anyway... instead of all the vacuous nonsense that we have at the moment...

... I had no idea they were crowd sourcing...

Apparently not. This has been bubbling away on the TT YouTube channel for a while now as they've been crowdfunding.

Some of its imitators seem very amateur by comparison but getting top notch people and equipment together on a single site even for three days filming must cost a packet.

I've been watching lots of TT classics on YouTube recently, reminding myself how much I love it. I prefer the Mick Ashton era ones.

It’s Mick Aston not Mick Ashton. Anyway it was only Series 20 that he didn’t appear on.

I’m a bit sceptical about who will be appearing on the new Time Team, as I’ve got a feeling that a lot of the senior members will be on it. I don’t think people will want to watch a bunch of men in their mid to late 60’s talking about digging holes.

I have missed it's genuine nerdiness , adults getting excited by a piece of pottery or a bit of tibia.

It's a surefire given the new incarnation isn't going to be inhabited by white, straight beardy men.

I do hope they just choose presenters and experts who are just good at their job and they don't choose them with box ticking in mind.
Will they present it in the style we love and are used to, or will they choose a different style to 'get down with the kids' to attract a younger audience?

For me I doubt it will ever be the same without the characters of the old Time Team, but i'm excited about it and will definitely be watching.

YES

Or Prof Suzannah Lipscomb

Or a combo? Have they ever presented together?

Female history experts are always lush. Why didn't I go to uni and study history? frown Anyway, I don't care who's in it provided they are a all proper experts. That's all that matters.

Raksha Dave would be quite a good replacement for Mick Aston as well. I’m not sure who they could get to replace Tony Robinson.

I think he’d end up arguing with the archaeologists just because he wants to be the centre of attention.
