Why? The Season 1, which came out in July 2021, had the harvest for Aug 2020, so it stands to reason that this years harvest will be released next year.
Big assumption.
To invest without funding & at the time covid lockdowns everywhere ballsy.

But until we have confirmation there is no way of knowing who is wrong or right.

Take Rust Valley on Netflix - where is the next season?
It's not an expensive show to make. It's an operational farm, and the "cast" will be working the farm anyway. No studios, no cast to pay, just a fly on the wall film crew.

Clarkson has a history of successful TV production and this is no exception (they are literally talking about the show on ITV now!).

If Amazon didn't pick it up someone would. Its not exactly a risky move.

I can give you confirmation it will be 2022.
It’s possible - but what info do you have to confirm it?

Possible and by far the most likely.

Precedent. 2020 harvest aired in 2021. Logically 2021 harvest will air in 2022

Filming is well under way. Funding secured.

Based on that assumption not confirmation they will be commencing filming of S3 very shortly for 2023.

They didn't announce they were starting filming of the 21 season...

When they announced the second series a week or two back they said filming was already underway.

Exactly. And they wouldn't start filming S2 midway through the farming season, so it's logical to conclude they started filming S2 almost immediately after S1 was finished.

Clarkson owns (wholly or in part) the production company who produce it, I believe. I strongly suspect the whole "will they/won't they" thing was his production company publicly negotiating with Amazon as to how much they were going to pay for the rights to show it.

As far as lockdown affecting the farming situation.... grass still grows, crops need planting, sheep keep breeding etc!

Exactly. You just keep filming after season 1 is in the can. In the overall scheme of things the cost of gambling that you'll sell a second season isn't that great. So keep filming so you have the material in your pocket, wait for season 1 to finish airing, see the reaction, phone up Mr Amazon and say "that went well would you like a second series?". You don't wait for them to say yes please before starting filming.

Especially as the bulk of the early season is perhaps less intensive in terms of filming - if not sold, then you'd likely know before you're getting full time crews in for lambing/harvesting.

It'll be interesting to see how they manage the 'it's financially bloody hard to run a farm' angle in series 2 when it's obvious they are comfortably making thousands every single day from the farm shop. Worrying about only making £7k from some sheep will seem a little pointless when the shop probably has that kinda turnover on a daily basis.
7k a day is a lot of turnover for that tiny shop that is only open 4 days a week. Even including revenue from the online webshop.

But say you're correct and it is 7K turnover a day. Take out the cost of manufacturing and packaging the goods that go in to the shop, the cost of the staff that serve the customers, the utility costs to heat and light the shop. the cost of building and updating the website, the transaction costs for card machines and online payment processing - what do you think he's left with out of that 7K ? Personally I think "comfortably making thousands every single day from the farm shop" is well wide of the mark.

2 or 3 people? Camera/sound/director. All the editing and production will be done after the commercial deal has been agreed. It's effectively a fly on the wall documentary.

No need to roll eyes. It was a very good put-down.

I'm beginning to think they've done some sneaky edits of Gerald's rambles. I think they've cut off the beginning of some words and sentences to make it more incomprehensible.

Often, when he's talking, the camera is on Clarkson. I suspect occasionally they've dropped in bits from different converations, too.
Ivw listened to it a couple of times and it's literally incomprehensible mumbo jumbo.

The above would make sense, well more than Gerald.
I'd say it's completely genuine, my mother lives in Cornwall and her plumber is a traditional Cornishman in his 60's who speaks exactly the same. He came to service the boiler when i was there once, couldn't understand a word he said
Living in Norfolk, on a second hearing I can tell what he says not too badly.

It was misguided, because I wasn't being negative, and it was fking weeks ago!

This has definitely been a great find, especially with The Grand Tour going so utterly off the boil.

I said that when I watched the first conversation between Gerald & Clarkson. You can tell from the camera positions and the frequent cuts that it's multiple segments edited together. Eg one shot showing the 2 of them standing together, the next shot much further back which should show the first camera position.

And when you said it, you didn't get this swivel-eyed and unsubstantiated response:

Gerald sounds like the Police Dog Handler from Hot Fuzz. Until I worked in deepest Gloucestershire I thought the way he spoke was complete fiction……….I now know differently.
