Season two must be incoming soon - there's been a notable increase in social media activity (or maybe it's just the YT algorithm has decided I need to see more of Clarkson and Kaleb).
Sadly but predictably it looks like Kaleb has become a bit of a celeb - book deal done and written, his own cider launched alongside Clarkson's lager, 1.1 million followers on Insta etc.
I'm looking forwards to series 2 but fearing it will have lost some of the innocent charm of series 1.
Clarkson, Hammond & May were seen last week in Gdansk, Poland, filming new footage for The Grand Tour, therefore I don't know how that would fit in with Clarkson's availability to also film the Farm at the same time.Sadly but predictably it looks like Kaleb has become a bit of a celeb - book deal done and written, his own cider launched alongside Clarkson's lager, 1.1 million followers on Insta etc.

In regards to celebrity status James May/Kaleb Cooper, it is rarely understood (especially on here) that most people cultivate an on screen persona, which may or may not reflect their real life personality. Also I imagine it is a genuine pain in the arse when people think they own you or you’re trying to go about your daily business with people stopping to take photos or ask hundreds of questions.
That said Kaleb already comes across like most young farmer contractors, very cocky, self assured and comfortable in his own element. Plus he could be earning tens of thousands of tv money and it wouldn’t even touch the sides of a machinery contract purchase and maintenance plan. Farming contractors habitually own hundreds of thousands on tractors and implements at any one time.

Farming contractors habitually finance hundreds of thousands on tractors and implements at any one time, which they replace with a newer machine on finance in a few year's time. They need to do more work to justify the big kit and then need bigger kit to justify the work.

Indeed. The world is far too badly mannered. To not return a sweet gesture from a young boy doesn't bode well for him. IMO and all that.
Yeah. He probably won't become famous or rich. Not sure if it's reasonable to dismiss someone on how they react to a child or any member of public approaching them.
I would hate to have to put up with having to deal with countless members of public coming up to me as if they have some connection to me, even if I was working and that was part of the job.
I've found myself in the company of "celebs" over the years and I talk to them as strangers as that's what they are and like most people, they usually talk back to you in a pleasant manner. They are only human and I have no idea if the image they portray on screen is the real them or not so I wouldn't dream of treating them as if they are the same person.

I've never understood the fascination with famous people. What do either of us gain if I shake a celeb's hand? What do I do with a photo of me standing next to them? I may know who they are, but they have no idea about me.
If somebody entertains me on tv show, then when the programme is over, so is their obligation to me.
If I see in the street a waiter from my local restaurant, I wouldn't dream of asking him to go and get me a piece of cheesecake.

I agree, although I think it's a bit different with children, they probably don't think the same.If somebody entertains me on tv show, then when the programme is over, so is their obligation to me.

This. To use James May as an example you have to imagine how many conversations he must've had with complete strangers about Jeremy Clarkson or The Hamster or The Stig, eventually you'd end up avoiding contact with people out of sheer self preservation. That bit about talking to them as if they are strangers is the main thing, I once had quite a long conversation with a local sleb John Challis who'd come over to see an excavation we were doing. I kept to the matter in hand and didn't start talking about Only Fools and Horses. Of course if they bring it up its another matter.

Agree. When I was a kid I got someone’s autograph. Couldn’t for the life of me think what to do with it or why I’d want another. Never take free handouts either. If somebody entertains me on tv show, then when the programme is over, so is their obligation to me.

Yeah, but there are famous people, and then there are like oh-my-god-I-can't believe-it's-actually-them moments. If somebody entertains me on tv show, then when the programme is over, so is their obligation to me.
I spent ten minutes once chatting to Johnny Ball in the Cambridge Union bar before a debate. The actual man, who was such a massive part of my childhood it can't be comprehended. I'm amazed I got more than three words out to be honest.
