Sooo good.
And whilst I usually like these things to be self-contained and 'finished', there's a good opportunity for a second series, mainly covering what's about to happen to Eric.
In my mind - A pretty grim 4 years in the nonce wing having to live along side them and getting a tough time off the screws. And whilst I usually like these things to be self-contained and 'finished', there's a good opportunity for a second series, mainly covering what's about to happen to Eric.
Would like to have learned more how the prisoner network/gang had such a reach to know about his boy and where he'd be.

+1 on some plot expansion as to how they knew what they knew.

First rule he said was "never show weakness" If someone hits you, whether you're Ronnie Kray or Ronnie Corbett, you need to stand up to them there and then.
You'll get more respect if you fight and lose than if you do nothing.
There is NZ ex-prisoner on TikTok who describes his life in prison. The concept of respect is paramount in prison, and that isn’t necessarily obtained by fighting and being tough. It’s only a matter of time before someone tougher comes along, or the numbers of mates you have dwindles and another group takes over. So I think it’s a lot more complex. You'll get more respect if you fight and lose than if you do nothing.
It’s also very different if you are young vs. if you are older. Apparently older guys generally get left alone, unless they are in there for a crime like rape or pedophilia. Also people In there for fraud and white collar stuff, generally left alone unless they think they can extort something.
This guy admitted he wasn’t a fighter and that fighting someone obviously bigger and tougher than you was not a good idea.

When did Sean Bean become such a good actor? That's twice on TV series, this time and the one he played a priest, absolutely fantastic performances. Hard watches but so watchable if you know what I mean. Great acting, the young lad who played his cell mate was outstanding in the restorative justice scene and throughout.

Agreed. We recognised the young lad from the sitcom the F1rst Team, and he wasn't given much opportunity to demonstrate that talent in that.Sean Bean - brilliant.

The other Cons on the other hand would be less pleasant I imagine.

There must be prison officers on PH?
Not an easy job maintaining the mix of authority, respect, control, non-bullying, not being a target.
Not making a comparison as its a job I could never have managed, but I was a pub and nightclub doorman for 33 years and we needed similar attributes!! Not an easy job maintaining the mix of authority, respect, control, non-bullying, not being a target.
i have to admit it is very close subject to my heart.
My dad went to prison, chartered accountant and all, and i had a drinking problem, never killed anyone but was probably going that path until i ended up getting caught and they discussed prison. i think if i went in my path woulld be similar to Sean Bean.
Great TV really a shame he isn't in more stuff like this.

I thought it was Southport pier. Lights over the pier looked familiar but ive not been in the cafe/shop at the end for a good number of years.
Yep that was Southport Pier, instantly recognisable. Great show, as others say, uncomfortable in pieces.
I had same discussion, I have no idea also how I would react to the bullying bit.
Uncomfortable watching.
Started a thread a bit ago about a close run thing with a cyclist at night. Slight differences, not pissed, cyclist no lights, reflectors, black clothing on an unlit road. Because paying close attention and again, not pissed no drink for years, cyclist avoided, just! Passenger didn't see them until after started avoidance. There but for the grace etc...
