Quin Gon, killed from a lightsabre,
Reva, just a stitch in her side.
Same with the Grand Inquisitor. These lightsabres don't seem to be very effective.Reva, just a stitch in her side.
Another example (1 of many in this show) of the makers insulting viewers' intelligence.

Don't forget Fennec Shand had a gaping hole blown in her midrift from which she managed to survive just long enough for it to be filled in with some robotic bits...
Yeah but that was shown more as her back story than a "oh look they're dead...but are they?" cliff hanger though. You would still think being skewered on a lightsaber would be pretty final - they would only have to jiggle it a bit to melt everything left inside you.Bit of a mixed bag ... the Vader/Kenobi duel was good and even managed to tie up a niggle in the original SW where Kenobi called Vader 'Darth' as if it were a name (which at the time it was written, it was). However, didn't make any sense why he didn't finish him off when he had the chance (other than Vader has to survive). I guess you can argue that the duel proved that Kenobi was still the Master and Vader the apprentice, which would make it fit into the line in the movie when he meets Ben on the Death Star. I'd say that they just about got away with the duel and to be fair, was pretty emotional when Kenobi and Vader were talking after Vaders helmet was bust. But, where was the Star Destroyer when Kenobi left the planet? Plus of course, the small freighter at the start did an amazing job to not get disabled whilst being chased down by a Star Destroyer ... and why didn't they use TIE fighters?
The scene with Leia at the end really makes the fact that she obviously doesn't know Kenobi in 'A New Hope' even more puzzling. Are we supposed to believe she forgot all about what just happened in 10 years? Silly to try to force it into the canon.
Reva of course had to be shown to be basically 'good' at the end and kind of the real 'saviour' of Luke, not Kenobi. It's not like she wouldn't have been involved in the murder of dozens of people prior to that, but we don't speak of that..... But how did she survive being impaled on a lightsaber by Vader and make it all the way to Tatooine - don't know. Also not clear if she knows Luke is Vader's son or just that he was somehow important and Vader would be interested in him .. pretty weak reason to go all the way to Tatooine with the intent to kill him.

Maybe the midichlorians can grow it back?Lucas Ayde said:

When they're playing the hologram film on Han Solo's ship, doesn't she say something like 'help me Obi-Wan, you're my only hope' as she inserts the file into R2-D2?Flip Martian said:

The same with the Grand Inquisitor.
I'm presuming any major character that gets stabbed and they don't show their body will pop back up at some point now.
It's very lazy.
The worst thing was Qui-gons return, so many decent places for him to have appeared to help him but no, he's squeezed in as a last minute comedy footnote when everything's done and dusted.
Training I have for you, commune with the dead said Yoda.
We saw none of this apart from Obi saying help me master out loud a few times, how about showing us this training which he was set.
I'm not really sure what Reva was actually up to, did she want to kill Luke because she knew he had some sort of link to Anakin? And why would she think she has 'failed' by not finishing him off?
I didn't get her story or motives at all really. And she presumably inflicted a lot of pain, death and suffering on families etc to get to her position, just to get close to Vader to try and kill him for, erm, inflicting pain and suffering.

If you aren't very discerning then this series might seem ok as entertainment. Indeed, a few parts of it taken in isolation are good.
But if you start to think, even a little, about the actual story and character motivations, it falls apart very quickly.
That's the biggest crime in all of this. It is such a waste of potential. They had a budget and access to returning actors that could have been used to create something excellent, but, for whatever reason, the writing and direction was extremely poor and they settled for less.
Good entertainment doesn't just superficially dazzle or distract. The best will also resonate emotionally and intellectually, sometimes to such a degree that it motivates and inspires. I don't think anyone watching this is coming away a more enlightened individual.
"But it's only a kids Star Wars show" you say.
Why on Earth would that give it a pass?
Expect and demand better if you don't want a steady decline towards mediocrity and ultimately lowest common denominator fare.

I also wonder why anyone hitting someone with a lightsaber doesn't automatically swipe across and chop the body, given its like a hot knife through butter. Make sure they're dead! Leave 'em in more than 1 piece! Especially when they must know that "running them through" and leaving a big hole you can see through (and incinerating any organs in the way) just isn't enough.
The "kids show thing" - this is really what i dont understand - why spend oooooodles amount of money on live action, if its going to be aimed at kids - there is/has been a ton of Star Wars "kids" animation, that has all the big characters in it, and has been done exceptionally well.....
if your going to bring back live action Vader, Obi Wan, make it worth its while - make it add some value to the characters and the story arc as a whole.... it doesnt have to have gore or violence, it just needs to deal with themes that are relatable. I for one liked the guilt that obi wan had, but it was just a tiny thread in a gigantic mess or nonsense.....
this i feel failed on all counts - it was sloppy writing throughout and i feel sloppy direction too.
i mean can you imagine the table reads for these episodes and anyone who cared about star wars thinking it was good ?
Ewan McGregor : I wish we'd done a better job with the prequels, so lets read a bit of this episode.....ok so darth vader finds me on a planet and pulls me into the flames, love it, then....errrrr i escape, because what, he then decided NOT to pull me into the flames, he just stands there.....errr ok...
Writers : yeah yeah, good isnt it, you get your sabers out and everything.........
Ewan McGregor : ok , last episode wasnt great, so lets read this one, ok great vader finds me on a planet and pulls the ship i'm in from the air into the hanger, love it, then ....errrr i escape because what, he see's us fly away in another ship and decides NOT to pull me back into the hanger........errr ok...

So Bail can now get on with running Alderaan with the aid of Leia's sage advice (because remember parents your kids always know best), but shouldn't the darker elements of the empire now immediately turn up and wreck his sh*t for being a Jedi sympathiser?
As it turns out it takes them a further 9 years to get around to it.

seems she can become a Princess and everything you know - no one remembers her helping out the Jedi , get rescued from that fortress that has no defences, running around with a known jediAs it turns out it takes them a further 9 years to get around to it.
yadayadayada - hence why i feel the Leia thing was shoe-horned in by Disney Demographic algorithm....
