Thought it quite good, I rarely watch these detective type progs, either the characters, the acting or the script annoys but KP was OK.
Downside was as we started watching the last episode I called the culprit and was berated as having read it on here!! I hadn't, it was just obvious.

I watched the second part last night - isn't there some kind of issue with the way he's just going through all those evidence boxes, undoing the secure tag and then just dumping them off to one side?

I've read the book, but in common with most books I've read, I can't remember the ending.

We’re left making them assumption that he re secured the box and update’s the record with them new seal number I suppose.

Watched first two episodes and so far so good for me, the only spoil for me so far is the rather unusual behaviour of Pirie on occasions.

Plus I’m fairly sure that a male DS suddenly stealing a big kiss from a woman officers without any hint it was wanted would not be seen in a positive light.

However, got to forgive the double standards for the entertainment!

I watched the final episode last night and really enjoyed the entire series. I thought the story hung together pretty well, and the characters seemed to be fairly consistent throughout. I can't think of many other TV crime dramas in which the lead detective is a young inexperienced copper who gets to the solution primarily through doing proper police work, normally it's a grizzled old experienced cop who magically works it all out over a pint of beer in a photogenic country pub.

I hope there's more next year.

Really enjoyed the concluding episde last night, and the series as a whole.. It said alot that the only comment the guilty cop made during being interviewed was trying to save his colleague back then...! Felt for Rosie's daughter Grace.. Yes, she mowed down and killed student Ziggy, but the case shouldn't have just been put back in the box for so many years....
Hopefully more next year..

I know it is trivia but I couldn't get my head around her flat mate who was able to come up with DNA analysis and forensic response on the paint

If my memory serves me correctly, her flat mate was friends with an academic who did the analysis as favour.

She worked in some sort of laboratory (well, she had a white coat on in the last episode, though I think that's the first time we saw her anywhere other than at home) so I guess it's not a stretch that she knows a range of specialists in different fields.

We saw the 1st episode last night enjoyed it, despite some difficult to understand dialogue.

Refreshing that Karen isn't some demented tortured soul fighting inner demons.

They had done quite well in finding cars from the 70s and 80s but it was a bit silly that they were digging out rubble in a cave where the roof had collapsed without a hard hat in sight.

There was also an on strike miner who was having to moonlight as a bouncer driving a B reg Chrysler which would have been virtually new at the time it was depicted.

It is pretty good but perhaps dragging a bit into episode 3.
