The last of us - HBO max (spoilers!)

I thought the first game was awesome, both the visuals and the story.
the second game visuals were even more stunning, the game play and dynamics amazing. Such a shame the story was a clumsy mess. I gave up it was so bad. couldn't even bring myself to sell the game on as I didn't want to inflict it on anyone else.

I agree there was something about the second game that just didn't grab me in the same way. I've still left it unfinished although I do plan to get back to it one day. the second game visuals were even more stunning, the game play and dynamics amazing. Hoping to watch the TV show tonight.
I will be watching this tonight - I think I played through maybe 50% of the first game on the PS4 and never got round to finishing it. I also avoided articles about the second game as I know there was some unhappiness in terms of the storyline - I was going to play the second game but decided against it since I found out they were going to make a TV series. It will be interesting to see Neil Druckmann & Craig Mazin's take on it.
For those really into the game and want the best possible experience, neither my Sky Atlantic nor my NowTV streaming experience is showing the stream in Dolby Vision.
Not only is HBO Max streaming it in Dolby Vision but its also in Dolby Atmos (Apple 4k TV Box), if you are a big fan, its going to be the only way to stream it legally.
I loved the first game and enjoyed the second. I've actually just ordered The Last of Us remastered on PS5 to enjoy the adventure all over again. Annoyingly Miss Badger is away for work until Wednesday so I can't watch until then as she want to see it too, but looks really good. The problem with video game adaptations is that they have always had trouble condensing a 20 hour story into 2. Plus games take a completely different pace to films and it rarely gets done right. Hopefully this will be the exception.

I’ve been pondering buying a PS5 to do just that. I’ll see how commission payday looks end of feb75Black said:
Enjoyed the first episode, the only gripe..which is not really a gripe is the choice of actress for Ellie. I know it's hard to cast actual people from video game characters but still.
Yeah I know what you mean. She’s shown glimpses of being good at the role though. Great first episode, and quite enjoying the old school way of having to wait a week for the next.

I'd probably have preferred Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Joel if I'm being very picky and to imitate the game-Joel more closely.
However, I thought the episode was fantastic. Like others have said, very faithful to the game but also a great independent introduction to the franchise for anyone not previously familiar with it. Really looking forward to next week's episode.
And to those that didn't finish the first game or get to the second, I would encourage you to revisit!

Are you a gamer? Wondering if it’ll make you want to play it in the same way the game made me want to watch it.
Making me want to play it but I've never been a playstation guy. Gassing Station | TV, Film, Video Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
