If I have a small gripe it's that it had a bit of the look and feel of The Walking Dead.

I've only played a few hours of the game, but it very much feels like the game.

Loved the first game, didn't really gel with the second game annoyingly (at some point I think I'll try it again) so very keen to see what this is like.
The 2nd game is OK, I initially struggled with it, especially as you spend time playing the antagonist which I think is a new one for a game. But the story was good in the end.
I think I gave up a fair way into playing the antagonist.

I do love the overall world the game is set in, and the gameplay etc, so I'm tempted to treat myself to a PS5 and the updated version of the first one then start from the beginning and play both games through.

That said, I've not even turned my PS4 on for months, so not sure if I'd actually get around to doing the above.

Back on track though: please let the TV show be good.
You should. They’re both really superb games and the story, graphics, atmosphere, pacing, soundtrack and acting are all top notch throughout.

Are you a gamer? Wondering if it’ll make you want to play it in the same way the game made me want to watch it.
The extent of my gaming was a gameboy back in the 90s and playing Torn online.

I thought the first game was awesome, both the visuals and the story.

the second game visuals were even more stunning, the game play and dynamics amazing. Such a shame the story was a clumsy mess. I gave up it was so bad. couldn't even bring myself to sell the game on as I didn't want to inflict it on anyone else.
The first game was an amazing combination of fantastic graphics (for the time, on a PS3) and a superb story with relatable characters. It was probably the first videogame where I felt I was truly inside of a cinematic story. Truly a landmark game IMO.

Unfortunately, nice though the graphical upgrade was for Part2 (and it should be, time and technology have moved on) they really trashed everything that was good about the characters in the first game and I just did not relate to the story. It was almost like one of these horrible modern remakes of cherished IPs where the new creative team thinks that they have to take a dump over the original property .. except that it was actually a direct sequel to something relatively recent and broadly written by the same people (or at least the lead designer anyway). Bizarre.

Watched the first 5-10 mins or so. It looks good but when they almost immediately slipped in a reference to global warming that set the 'shovelling the writers agenda in' detector off a bit. Will sit down and watch it properly this evening as HBO (the main channel) generally make quality stuff.

The talk show bit at the start?
Don't worry, there is no more 'woke' agenda in the rest of the episode.
I think they were just giving a bit of back story as to where the infestation started.

Yeah, that's just working in the fungus angle.

Thought it was brilliant and the fact they have some brilliant IP and Neil Druckman involved means they cannot mess this up. No spoilers even though I have played the games multiple times the opening chapter was still a tough watch. Compared to this I wonder how did Naughty Dog messed up big screen adaptation for the Uncharted movie so badly.

We are just starting episode 1 now.

I must have played the first game about 4 times and the second game I funnily enough re started recently. Excited.

Wasn’t impressed with the pilot at all

I mean surely that crash landing could be better controlled than that…

I actually didn't remember that in the game! However, if you have a zombie biting you while piloting a huge jet (just a plot assumption) while you are flying a plane I am not sure it would be easy to do smooth crash landing

Not played the game but seen a billion similar tv shows.
This looks good and they have obviously put a lot of work into it , mostly at the start.
Hope it is good going forward but I detected echoes of Y the last man during the 2nd half and that show was st.

I do like all the similarities to the game, it's heavily based on it, not loosely.. which is good becaus the games story is a masterpiece IMO.

I thought it was a great piece of TV, looks and sounds like a film on a big TV with surround sound, great production values.

Seems to be following the game pretty closely. It has made me want to play the game again.

The first game I played in 2022 - was blown away , loved the story, shame I didn’t wait for the remaster though!

The second game i did struggle a bit with , but I persevered and was glad I did. The story was actually really decent overall if a little long.

First episode of the tv show I absolutely loved - great reflection of the game’s story without it feeling like a cop out. Have high hopes for it.

Didn’t realise that Tess is played by Anna Torv (lead in Fringe) . Didn’t recognise her until someone pointed it out.

Mrs UTH is enjoying it. I might have been too soon with suggesting she’s ready to watch me play the game again from the start though
