And speaking of disposable action flicks...

Killer Elite, good watch, 7.5/10

Good cars, good locations.

De niro taking the money in an easy minor role playing second fiddle to Statham is themain dissapointment. He could show more believable emotion in a man then Statham does all movie. banghead

Still a good film and enjoyed more than Expendables 2 or Safe.

Battle: Los Angeles Normally I'd call this a guilty pleasure, but for me that's never fitted with films that take a more serious approach. I've always liked invasion films, but the military's role tends to be seen from the Generals' or outsiders viewpoint. Therefore telling it from the viewpoint of a small squad thrown into the fray against a completely unknown enemy is an interesting one. For the most part it works, thanks to solid cinematography and tight direction. The battle scenes are surprisingly intense, although you are always aware of the 12a/PG-13 rating. The characters are paper thin and the script full of cliches, so I can fully understand why a lot of people dislike this film. For me however it's ideal brain-off entertainment when you just want to watch stuff blow up.

8/10

The Machinist - Very dark, intense. Christian Bale is superb in it. 7/10

21 - about a group of students who learn to count cards and head to Vegas. I actually really enjoyed it. Good twist in it 6.5/10

Taken 2 - not sure why it gets all the bad reviews, I thought it was good. Very similar to the first, but still worth seeing 6/10

Mirrors. A little horror film from 2008 with Kiefer Sutherland. Not top grade, but not awful. Nice lil story to it, thought it was wk at first but I stuck with it and am glad I did. A few stupid things happen, but a good horror is rare these days.
6½/10.

Just watching For Your Eyes Only, again.

The 2cv chase is worth watching the film for.

Carole Bouquet is not bad either.

Having a b movie session.

Hobo with a shotgun. Another grind house spun off. Brilliantly bad, gory but in a silly 80's action movie way. Buckets of blood and violence. some imaginative killing. 7/10 for what it is 4/10 as a movie.

Iron sky - some very dodgy effects aside it generally looks good. The acting is pretty awful in places, especially the main female baddy but some of the pastiche bits are excellent (see downfall). Loved some of the comedy moments, some really yeehaw go good guys bits. Entertaining in a so bad it's good type of way. 7/10

RED TAILS

I thoroughly enjoyed it and am not about to pick holes in the CGI, you have to accept there are not 100 B17's or P51's flying anymore.

Well worth a watch 7.0 for me smile

You might like Insidious. It has a creepy atmosphere and it made me jump a couple of times. Also watched Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter this weekend.Which wasn't as good as I expected the editing is a mess to the point where it can seem like your watching a dodgy dvd copy.

Funny old world: I like a stupid action film, but I thought Colombiana was absolutely wretched. Nonsensical, irksome, unappealing, unexciting, action-free balls.
Fair enough, I was watching it ona long train journey whilst getting pissed on red wine. still enjoyed it though.

Watched 'The Shining', bought it on BD as my DVD copy had gone walkies, must say the print was stunning, was particularly impressed with the sound. The Wendy/Walter Carlos analog synth score just sounded immense!

I'm sure everyone has seen this classic, still stacks up as one of the best.
