Yes, that was a pretty good way to close it all off.

Starts again, S1 Ep 1, Monday 6pm apparently.

And 20 years from now some people will be complaining about some bias or other in it

I thought we might find out at last what Penny's surname was, to put that running gag to rest along with the elevator.
Yes! I came here to say exactly that, we never did find out!

I feel quite sentimental about the show, I started watching it in 2010 when I started going out with my now wife. It was generally quite funny especially some of the fringe characters, like Kripke and Stewart. I think it ended at about the right time though.

Actually, that raises a point, was her surname not mentioned when they got married?
"Do you Penny/Penelope Blah Blah take Leonard" etc etc ....

+Just looked on IMDB, not listed on there so i guess they skipped that part of her vows etc

I haven't watched many eps of the last few seasons but I thought that was a great way to end it, I enjoyed that a lot.

I've watched the ending. It was OK. A friend of mine wrote something on fb about being disappointed in a character, but overall it went out with a, 'yeh, that was fine.' A few years too late, but at least now my watch has ended.

Endings are rarely satisfactory in real life or in dramatic productions. I thought the BBT ending was pretty good, they played it fairly safe but didn't go too sentimental (Friends) or alienate too much of the fanbase (Seinfeld).

I thought the writers might have conspired to give Howard a PHD, so he could be a Dr. like the others,
but a fitting end to a great sit-com.

I can't stress this enough, but DO NOT SEARCH FOR BIG BANGFEST ON YOUR WORK COMPUTER

Just watched the final episode. really nice end and a 'dusty' speech from him. Another long running series comes to an end (we did How I met your mother before this). Sad but it couldn't go on forever and it had lost its sheen a little.

Was going to post the same, I thought it was well done.
what did it do?
It cuts to all the other characters individually and gives a glimpse into their childhoods.

This.

I really wanted to dislike Young Sheldon, but the more I watch it, the more I enjoy it....
