Eric, I don't know whether Virgin carries Sky 3 but I read that Sky 3 on Freeview will be showing certain stuff from Atlantic this weekend, including the first two episodes of Boardwalk Empire.

Agreed, he's an amazing actor and that dialogue was reminiscent of some of the great scenes in Tarantino's films.

It was a great monologue, I would have said the last line different, but still very good.

Similar to the last cigarette scene tween Chris Walken and Dennis Hopper, can't remember film.

True Romance. This series is shaping up well, I'm impressed.

I watched the first two episodes over the weekend on freeview (there was some sort of promotion to watch some Sky programs i beleive).

IMO it was very good, and i'd like to watch the rest of it, but is it shown on any Freeview channels?

Just started watching this, so forgive the lateness to party and reviving of the thread, but christ it's good. Not far in to make a judgement on the plots etc, but it's shot so well, the sets, camerawork, wardrobe and so on are brilliantly done.

Don't get too excited it starts well but fades badly into "not much happening" episodes. It's better than most but definitely no Sopranos.

3 episodes in and while it's got a lot of potential I can definitely see where you're coming from. Well worth a watch so far, but missing something.

It does drop in quality a bit in the middle, but stick with it - I thought it got better towards the end of the series.

Really enjoyed the first couple of episodes of series 2. Thought the scene in the prison with chalky White was some if the best tv I have seen, especially finishing off with a few lines of Dickens. Sublime

I'm loving the second series.

I'm beginning to think this is up there with The Sopranos, the attention to detail is outstanding, as are the story lines.

I'm no expert on African Americans slang in the 1920's but would imagine the language used in the prison scene had been researched and executed to perfection.

I have to say, loved BW when it started, but thought something was missing to make it to the A list amongst Sopranos/BSG/Wire etc. It got a little stodgy in the middle but picked up towards the end. But the second series is just electric. I was discussing the scene at the wake with a mate (an actor) and we were both agreeing that it was excellent. The way SB shows how he knows something is afoot but can't put his finger on it.
This second series has made it essential viewing, and I love the Nucky character.

I have just subscribed to Sky. Is there any way I can watch Broadwalk Empire from the beginning of series one?

I don't think so. If you connect you modem to the back of your Sky Box you can (after registering) use anytime+. On demand stuff on their but it doesn't hang about forever, I've not checked to see if BE is on there but series 7 of Entoruage was on there for a while.
