I hope the dog doesn't save him by breaking his fall and dying in the process.

Just to clarify...so was the guy sleeping with the queen her actual brother?
I suspect the child lives and plays a big part along with his brothers and mostly his sister of similar age (the one who was better at archery).

..will take me a while to remember the character names!
The couple in the tower are Queen Cersei and her twin brother Jamie. Both from the House of Lannister the richest and most powerful in the realm. The dwarf Tyrion is also their younger brother and although may appear to be a comic character in the first episode he in fact very clever and cunning developing into one of the main players.

Hope this helps without revealing any spoilers

I guessed that, the acting is very good, I think he was able to reveal that without it being too obvious.

The problem with all this is the books are so well written and the story is so detailed and gripping that by giving any information out to help people understand potentially gives away an exciting twist in the story.

That was very very good. Lots of interesting threads developing smile I would love one of those dogs.

Edit: a question for those who have read the books, would I be better off waiting till the end of this series before starting to read the books ?

That depends, the series is very good so far and has stayed quite close to the book, probably as close as is practical. The books are amazing to read though, I dont think a TV show can come close, but they are not a light read really.

The 5th book is out in July, its 1400 pages apparently. The first book is 800 or so.

One thing I would recommend is getting the first book for the appendix though as it lists all the characters and the houses they belong to. It makes it a bit easier to understand although they are doing quite a good job of filling it in with the TV show.

Plus if you read the book its going to be hard not to post spoilers.

The books will give you much more background. You don't need to read the books to enjoy the show but they will give it a little extra depth.

The actor playing Joffery captures spoilt evil little fecker very well

All of the acting seems very good to me, except maybe Caitlin, I was a little dissapointed with the changes they made to the seen with her Bran and Jon Snow as to me it was one of the most important bits I felt.

Jaime is my favourite character from the books and his acting is brilliant, so is Tyrion and Sean Bean was who I imagined Eddard to be when I read the books anyway.

I hope the producers of The Dark Tower films/tv series take a look at this - they need to match or better it in quality to succeed.

Lol i just enjoyed the hot ladies getting a seeing to.......is that wrong?
Ive read the books and they are far superior which says a lot as the series seems to be fantasically well put together so far.
Caitlin was a hard b.tch in the books and was so so cold to a lot of people a lot of the time. Those that have read the books know how much she loves her children but even through that she was never a warm character. Too torn up by Jon Snow to be warm. Eddard leaving reopens all that torment and turns her to stone all over again. I think she is well cast and well played. She is not a character that is there to be liked. Shes there to hold the story together and guide her children.

You might even call her Lady Stoneheart I guess;)

Also the slave girl who was teaching Daenerys used to be in something on English TV iirc

Halfway through Ep02 and I must confess I'm seeing the error of my original post. There are interesting little subtexts and stories developing.

I only paused it to post that I've only just figured out why I recognise the King ('s actor). It was the voice that finally gave it away. He's a long way from stripping in a Sheffield club biggrin (watching SG:U beforehand might have helped make the connection, it has to be said).

He does, also weird looking, like an insect.

What changes were made to that scene? Which one is Jaime?

Jaime is the guy who did the deed with his sister, his character is very interesting in the later books, very well developed. Its very hard to explain why I like his character without majorly spoiling it though so you will just have to watch it.

As to the changes in the scene, in the book the scene is acually 2 seperate ones, one with Jon where she is much much harder and more evil to him, ends with telling him she wishes it was him or something, but really conveyed the hate she had for her husbands bd.

There was a seperate scene with the bit where she says good bye to Eddard as well. Again it was some character development that I thought was quite important but might have been hard to film, they have probably had to cut a reasonable amount out to get it down to 10 1 hour episodes even allowing for how well done it has been.
