The 'Wail' have got hold of a 13 minute telephone conversation between Huhne and the person who allegedly took his speeding points.
The Telegraph also has a bit on this story. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/liberalde...

You have to love the Wail. I'm not sure if any other newspaper could produce the following:-
Sunday Mail said:
While Mr Huhne dumped his attractive Greek wife Vicky for former lesbian Carina Trimingham, Mr Clegg is married to glamorous Spanish-born Miriam Gonzalez Durantez.

True enough but they're slipping a bit - no mention was made of the value of their many houses...

Why on earth would it be recorded?
It was the ex wife.

Telegraph said:
Chris Huhne faces police investigation over allegations wife Vicky Pryce agreed to take speeding points
Chris Huhne, the Energy Secretary, is to be investigated by police over allegations that he allowed his wife Vicky Pryce to take speeding points on his behalf.

Essex police have assigned an officer to investigate the claims that would almost certainly result in the end of Mr Huhne's ministerial career and a jail sentence if proven.

The suggestion that the former Liberal Democrat leadership contender persuaded someone else to accept his speeding points, so he could avoid a driving ban, was first raised publicly by his estranged wife Vicky Pryce last week.

The Daily Telegraph has learnt that the person alleged to have taken the points is Miss Pryce herself.

Things are hotting up nicely. Essex police might actually investigate the case, and Huhne seems to have gone into hiding.

It does seem to be the LibDem element of the Coalition causing problems; Laws and Huhne have been humiliated in recent weeks, Cable continues to seemingly be active in opposing Cameron and the Tory line and Clegg suffered terribly in the local elections and AV votes.

Oh dear, the PM has expressed "full confidence" in Chris Huhne. That is usually done about a week before dismissal. I was hoping that he would go today.

This is a slight conflict.

The PM said Chris Huhne Denies the allegations.

No. 10 said that the PM expressed "full confidence".

The last person to have had "full confidence" from No. 10 is Andy Coulson.

So after a few days being AWOL, Mr Huhne has finally popped up in this short interview:- http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedd...

Interviewer: "Secretary of State, are you completely confident that Essex Police will find nothing that will incriminate you?"

C.H. "All I want to say is simply that these allegations are simply incorrect. They have been made before and they have been shown to be untrue. And I very much welcome the referral to the police as it will draw a line under the matter."

Interviewer: "If they are old allegations, why are they still being made then?"

C.H "I don’t want to say any more than that. I think the police can get to the bottom of this."

Interviewer: "Did you ever ask anyone to take points on your behalf?"

C.H. "Thank you."

His answers seem very evasive indeed. Why not give a direct denial when given the opportunity?

hehe but yes with a touch of Archer perchance.

Why do Prime Ministers always come out with this "has my full confidence" malarkey?

Has ever there been anyone who has had this said about them who later hasn't had to go slinking away tail between legs? Anybody? Ever?

He was 'Huhneing' around, burning off some (green) energy and now he's got the wind (farm) up. As Number Ten has expressed "full confidence", the nuclear option is due and he will be closed down under an EU Directive. The government will be better for his spending more time with his 'family'.

Indeed, it might be better if all the LibDems adopted and expanded on Cleggy's stance, and switched off before 15:00 each day. At a pinch, they might simply STFU and be grateful that they tasted 'power' ... before the lights go out.

The hiding, and his demeanour in the BBC interview lead me to believe he's lying his face off, and he knows he's about to get caught out.

If Wiki is correct it might mean the recording is inadmissible, assuming a newspaper and its readers would constitute a 'third party'. One has to question the motives of his ex-wife, although that's no excuse for his own indiscretion and stupidity. However when someone in the coalition speaks out against Clown Cameron and is immediately discredited, I would also question the political motives of the press.
It might not matter, Vicky was somewhere else, all we need to know now is did she take points for an offence committed that day?

If Vicky Pryce did take the points, presumably she signed a form saying so, and is just as guilty of lying to the police. And yet she's claiming the moral high-ground insisting on 'honesty', a mere 8 years later. A woman scorned, and being exploited by political opponents, why get behind that?
Hopefully she will get off with a suspended sentence as a reward for coming forward with evidence. Hopefully, Huhne won't get off so lightly.

Guido Fawkes is suggesting that Newsnight will be covering this story tonight - with an emphasis on the fact that Vicky Price was at a London Conference when the speeding offence took place.

It was suggested on the radio earlier that she knew nothing about it. Huhne simply put her down as the driver and sent the form back resulting in the NIP being sent to her. Huhne then just had to bully her enough to stick with it although I don't think this would cut any ice with the present investigation so she'll still probably get shafted.
