What's worse is that presumably the 59 year old man who cannot be named for legal reasons must be related to an under 18 year old who is involved in this particular crime. frown

Or that there is another investigation regarding him going on and they don't want to prejudice the case. Not sure which is worst, to be honest.

BBC said:
Miss Smith said the girls were given alcohol, food and money in return for sex but that there were times when violence was used.

The court was told that some of the defendants also took payments from other men to whom they supplied the girls for sex.

The girls involved were not in school regularly and often "drank and smoked and hung around with little to do".
sounds exactly like what happened with Charlene Downes, before she got put in the kebabs.

The kids were all in care. That's why they were targetted. The question you should ask yourself is how did this go unnoticed by the wider sani Muslim community, or did it? With 47 people in the dock altogether the answer appears obvious.

Says something for the "care" system eh...

Seriously, I'm pretty mild mannered and liberal but I'd be up for castrating these fkos - pass me the scapel, house bricks.

It would be easy to make assumptions, and really quite difficult not to. To air those would be wrong as the truth is always hard to get to. However, I do believe there are 'cultural issues' at play here.

In afghanistan thousands took to the streets today calling for death to all Americans because someone burnt a book which was probably being used to pass secret messages to prisoners.

In the UK a bunch of taxi drivers & takeaway workers, mostly from the same village in Pakistan go on trial for gang rape of underage girls in their adoptive country on the other side of the world. Some people have expressed their anger on the internet (but will probably be accused of being racists for doing so) even though this case is probably just the tip of the iceberg.

Oh hum...what a strange world we live in

The jury heard police missed an opportunity to intervene earlier when one of the alleged victims disclosed what had happened but officers decided at that stage not to take the matter further.

do you think they went home and told their wives and kids?

I think this case and (many others like this) just hightlight how many children appear to be out there easily bought for a few cans of beers or a bottle of vodka though.

Its ignored because the community are in complete denial (probably through ignorance). My mother works in a largely muslim school and when she talks with her colleagues about things like this they are resolute that shes lying and that its "impossible" because muslims don't do that sort of stuff.

Perhaps, but just because a load of brown people live together doesnt mean they are all best mates or know the ins and outs of eachothers lives - even if they may share a stronger bond that a similar grouping of white people elsewhere.

The media loves overplaying the 'community' card but IME (and I know a lot of ethnic minorities) the 'community' is almost never as tight knit as is implied.

That sounds about right. In communities that are otherwise close-knit it's not reasonable to believe that the evidence is not clear to everybody in that community. On the news it said that one of the girls had her phone number distributed to 80 different men in the community. (I'm pretty sure it said 80, could have said 18 but that point stands). And that's just one girl amongst one group amongst dozens of such groups.

That's fair enough.
However how the fk to peadophiles get to know they share the same tastes? OK, I can understand how the internet allowed them to 'pool resources' but ffs a bunch of blokes who all know each other! It's not like you'd sit in the pub (or kebab shop)with your mates and it would just crop up in conversation; "Actually guy's, a have a confesion to make........" "That's a bloody coincidence..." "Well count me in, I'll give anything a go...."

Politely put, jshell. I agree with you.

Interesting how there seem to have been a number of similar cases coming to light over the last few years, and didn't Jack Straw say something about it too? scratchchin

'Cultural' indeed.

The have even been so kind as to tell you which ones are on remand and which are on bail so you do accidentally go round to the wrong street and waste your time. I presume this is the case they had the media ban on last week. Surprised they have published their addresses!
