Police in search for missing 5 year old

I don't want to start the thread with blame, but... What on earth was a five year old doing outside at 7.30 when they should be being read a book and tucked up for the night; isn't it dark at that time now?
Clearly, you shouldn't attribute blame on differing family lifestyles as I'm still amazed that 15-20 miles from London you can find yourself in a scene from the Darling Buds, but I just cannot imagine my 6 yr old being allowed out in London, well, ever.

Hope she's found safe and well soon. BBC news were saying she was seen getting into a van, but they didn't give a description of it - which I thought was odd. Surely they'd want people keeping an eye out for it? Or if they said "White Ford Van" it would cause more problems?

The piece on the news this morning just described the van as 'light coloured'
The bit I found strange was, after reporting she had been seen getting into a van, they then said that police and locals were searching the local area - Surely if they should be searching for the van, which lets face it, could be miles away.

Sadly I must echo DonnyMac's thoughts. I live next to a playground and see children as young as 2 without adults (but with older siblings around 12 years old) on an almost daily basis. Some of them have been brought from the village, a few hundred yards along an A road, in pushchairs.
Despite being able to see the playground from the house my children (aged 4 and 6) don't go out alone, yet.

Exactly. I mean WTF is a 5 year old girl doing out by herself after dark. I realise that it's not her parents fault she got abducted just because she was out after dark, but at 7.30pm in the middle of Wales, I'd wager it is properly dark to, not just dusk.I don't want to start the thread with blame, but... heres an idea for a website - somewhere everyone with cctv in the area can upload their footage when something like this happens and then people on the interweb with time can search it and tag sightings with diff levels of likelyhood.
saves police time and realises my dream of being in spooks..
