I'd have given him life or worse.

It's the only way to start cleaning the gene pool smile

You are however entirely free to set up a page demanding he be hung from the nearest tree
Yes, and then publish posts from people describing how they would torture and kill him in graphic detail.
So do we know all report those people to the police in the interests of fairness?

he was deliberately trying to cause as much offence as possible. I'm not sure that we have the right to do this.
Frankie Boyle has made a career of doing exactly that.

A complete and utter waste of time and resources.

What the chap said was pretty sick, but it didn't deserve a stretch in Prison FFS!

How far could this go? Could someone look back at the old Michael Jackson jokes and start sending PHers to Prison? confused

I would argue sick jokes are part of our culture and tradition going back throughout time.

If it was just that joke then definitely should not have been gaoled. Shouldn't even have been in court.

You could but we don't, usually because we're intelligent enough to think "why would I bother our already stretched police force with this bullst?"

I've said it before but it does seem weird that I could probably walk outside right now and punch a total stranger in the face and get less than this chap got.

He's a prick for sure, but 12 weeks seems, frankly, ridiculous, and as others have said when will Frankie Boyle be in the dock?

Really? You want a person who told a joke only made possible because the girl has a month as her name to go to gaol to stop other people telling sick jokes?

Welcome to thought crime UK.

Whilst its a bit sick (but obviously a joke) its a worrying trend of people being arrested and charged with (?) for their twitterings.

What law is being used to carry these arrests out? Isnt freedom of speech something many people from this country have died for?

Where were the police vans rounding up the poppy burners a couple of years back? Did any of them get custodial sentences?

It's high time that Twitter and Facebook had a box you have to tick before joining, along the lines of "by signing up to Twitbook, I hereby accept that I am joining an unregulated faceless community which, by virtue of the law of averages, will include loads of complete s. I therefore accept that by joining twitbook I am able to just ignore these mindless wkers without getting my knickers in a twist.

That way, no one can complain.

What bothers me about this is he posted it on his Facebook wall and someone else took a screenshot of said post and posted it on the April page. This is classic trolling. They deliberately posted that on that page under the guise of "look, look at the bad man, be offended" knowing it would cause offense.

This really enrages me, of all the things the CPS and Judges should be doing, they do this. If everyone on the net started reporting every thing that offended them it would be carnage......
