As I said before, this has very very little to do with Trump.

The newish South Korean president is the catalyst for these changes.

If the South Korean can bring the parties together to stop this baby moving forward then he has to be applauded https://thebulletin.org/2018-doomsday-clock-statem...

First, if it is then I nonetheless doff my cap to him for an impressive feat of political opportunism. Even if this is the case, the world will still recall that he made the move ahead of the news, which suggests that his position is not (or is not now) so tenuous as feared.

Second, it doesn't really matter if Trump or God or poor geological planning led him to the table; it is still good that he's at the table.

Third, if the foregoing is true, I wonder if it means that his warheads are not yet ready to be deployed on missiles, and require more testing first.

Let's hope Kim's idea of de-nuclearisation is the same as everybody else's idea of it.

Peace Treaty to be signed today, now there's something. He's going to sit beside Trump as the bigger man, isn't being seen as an equal all NK has wanted as a state?

I mean de-nuke if the KP. I have a nasty feeling he means no more development or testing.

Update on that, the North and South have just announced de-nuke if the KP.

Does that mean no nuclear powered foreign forces in SK, if so yanks out. Or just no warheads.

NK has previous form at this.

What they actually mean is they have about 6-9 months of rebuilding to do following their testing facility blowing up, and will have to find new scientists which may take longer. Because of this downtime they may as well see what cards they can play to get a bit of financial aid, some new cars, phones, etc before they start it all back up again.

What SK is hoping is that in this time they can make NK have enough dependency on them and their tech that NK doesn't want to restart it's nuclear programme.

Then you have both NK and the new SK president wanting reunification, which will be interesting.

Interesting move, remove the US. Then get all fighty again.

That is probably the plan. But the yanks will be back in a flash if so much as one round crosses that border. And they can strike from afar whenever they like.

It's all in the detail. Moon may be surrendering more than he thinks.

I really don't think SK would want the yanks back though.
Public opinion is not great for them.

If they really need them back, it will probably be too late.

Weren't you a big defender of North Korea in this thread saying that diplomacy was the key to success?
