It's not quite the full gauntlet.

If he's stupid enough to test another nuke then that'll be it.

Could be the most recent failure was as a result of an aerodynamic instability of the missile due to having the director of the previous launch failure strapped to the nose-cone.

Unless it's a foreign source interfering with the launch......

the designer is probably thinking "with these two prats at the helm of NK & USA I better make it fail"

I guess there may be a fairly high turnover at present in the 'Design a rocket for PieMan' office - too many earlier designers have suddenly 'disappeared'.

It's very obvious where they're going wrong

They haven't put a pointy bit at the end. How is that going to stick in the ground?

Regardless of whether stuff works, those tracked carrier/launchers certainly look purposeful... any on EBay yet?

i thought this was all shouty shouty america but today Japan closed down their metro system after news of the latest rocket. There is only so long before they will act. America will be ready to go along with it as its their "thing" , they love bombing countries.

Have I missed something?
They do have vast amounts of rare earth materials ( 2/3rds of the world apparently ) , some mega billions right there to be snatched .
2 points about that; NK doesn't have 2/3rds of the world's rare earth elements and rare earths aren't very rare, so their value as unprocessed ore is low. One use of REEs is in optical systems like lasers, which segues neatly into...

If the US has got an updated version of the YAL-1 laser system or a space-based laser it's feasible they could have zapped it on the sly in order to frustrate Fatty Kim.

Road in NK:

total: 25,554 km
paved: 724 km
unpaved: 24,830 km (2006)

I find it amazing that they have nuclear weapons and only a tiny road network, get your priorities right.

What's needed is one of their missiles to be a bit wobbly on the launchpad and just tip north a bit on takeoff and land in China.

Are nk missiles guided or more of a case of face in direction and light the blue touch paper.
