As a taxi is £80 back to my house from aberdeen

and coke tastes like st

and it is a tiny tiny increased risk to the general public

So why should i not be allowed one single pint of decent beer?

I like a pint if I go out for a meal or something. Usually I'll drive and the missus will have a couple of glasses of wine. I'll make my first drink a pint of something nice, then have water or soft drinks. This law is nothing more than a restriction on my freedom to enjoy a pint responsibly.
Why do you have a pint when you know you'll be driving?
As I said in the post above: I like to enjoy a pint of something nice if I'm out for dinner. Or occasionally a bottle of beer or a glass of vino.

A beer with a meal improves my experience greatly. Complementary goods.

In that case, get a taxi home.

If you want to drive, don't have a beer.

Simples.

That's your lifestyle choice. If you want a beer, sort out transport home.

One pint at the start of the evening, I doubt it even increases the risk a tiny tiny amount.

This is an uneccessary change in the law when the Scottish government could be debating far more important issues.

Dissolution of the Scottish parliament would be my choice of something more important to debate.

Would you fly in a plane knowing the pilot has just had a pint?

So simples?

Ever driven with a cold

Too much risk

Take a taxi

Ever driven tired

Too much risk

Take a taxi

Ever driven a car that could break the speed limit

Too much risk

Take a taxi

Ever driven while angry

Too much risk

Take a taxi

Ever driven when it is raining

Too much risk

Take a taxi

Ever driven when it is foggy

Too much risk

Take a taxi

Ever driven when you were under the age of 30

Too much risk

Take a taxi

Simples isn't it

If that is what you do then fine, but if others want to do different, within the law, then why not ?

Why take the risk?

You know the limit in other countries?

Do all these people who think one pint of normal strength beer is a bad thing agree that driving when tired, ill etc is just as dangerous if not more so ? where do you draw the line, it wont stop people who are hammered driving any more than the current limit.

I don't condone drink driving where the person is clearly not in a fit state to be behind the wheel, but to have one pint with food especially, unless you weigh 4 stone or something shouldn't cause a problem.

Bingo. And the government should only interfere with lifestyle choices if there is a very clear case that to do so is in the public interest.

In this instance, that case is very far from being made.

You talking to me? smile

I know the effect a single pint has on me is determined by various factors.

I'm not measuring anything.

I have assessed the risk and decided it is negligible.

I try to abide by the laws of whichever country I am in.

But others are suggesting the proposed law change is wrong because they want to have a drink and drive.

Fundamentally, that's wrong.

What on earth has that got to do with anything? We are talking about the drink drive limit, not the flying limit (which is a lot lower).
