A woman has been found guilty for the second time of tricking a female friend into having sex by pretending to be a man.

Gayle Newland, 27, was initially convicted of three counts of sexual assault at Chester crown court in September 2015, and was sentenced to eight years in prison. Her conviction was quashed at the court of appeal last October following criticism of the judge’s summing up and she was released from jail pending a retrial.

No reporting was allowed of the second trial at Manchester crown court until Thursday, when a new jury again ruled she was guilty on three counts of sexual assault by penetration in a case that caught the public imagination because of its bizarre and elaborate nature.

I saw this in the news earlier and remembered reading about this odd case here before...

It doesn't seem any less weird the second time around with the retrial. I still think the initial 8 year sentence seemed excessive.

Check some later mugshot pictures of him. He ended up the bh. Full on long hair and mascara with a prison tatt signifying, well, lets just say he gets to be the lady of the pairing.

His life did not have a happy conclusion at all.

Cue a lot of very, very nervous transfolk ending up explaining things in excruciating detail prior to doing anything for the first time with anyone beyond, say, shaking hands...

Gotta say I was half expecting the accused to come out as trans - and am frankly quite relieved they didn't, all things considered.

To make Newland’s case, the jury was shown the large, pink prosthetic penis, which she used during their sexual encounters. The jury were ordered to take it into the jury room for their deliberations.
Let's hope it wasn't cleaned rofl

A woman who pretended to be a man to dupe her female friend into sex has been sentenced to six and a half years in prison following a retrial.

Gayle Newland, 27, was convicted in September 2015 and sentenced to eight years, only to be freed on appeal last autumn.

A jury found her guilty of three counts of sexual assault by penetration at a retrial at Manchester crown court last month.

It seems very harsh considering the victim was a willing participant at the time.
