Balanced Question Time panel tonight - of course not! VOL 2
Discussion

Thought last weeks jeering audience was bad and a one off. Sadly this weeks was pretty awful too. Rayner really annoys me and I was amazed at Cables honesty on tuition fees, that silenced a few students in the audience. Does seem to be heavily pro labour audiences in the run up to the election. I like Dimbelby but he needs to chair the debate and stop it when panel shout over each other or the audience screams so loudly you can't hear the bloody panel.
I think they have sussed that if they say they are Tory they will get a seat.Clever question from the girl. She made sure it was asked because it sounded like it was from a right winger.
They are not all as stupid as some of them seem - which makes them all the more dangerous.

Difference between here and twitter is amusing - whilst you are all bashing Labour - the Tory youngster is really getting it in the neck.
Its almost as if N,P&E is a Conservative echo chamber But if you think about it, virtually everyone here has a car. A good percentage of those will be "interesting" in some fashion and probably not a generic 1.4 1 Series on Finance or a £300 Focus (SOTW not withstanding)
So the users of PH are probably average or upwards wage earners. So hardly the shouty "I want everything for free" types Labour are trying to get to vote for them
I think it's an entertainment - no more than that. There's little to no chance of engaging in debate, getting answers to sensible questions...it's about drama and vitriol. Much like Jeremy Vine on R2 - just wind people up and let them entertain you.

Vine. That excuse of a man winds me up at times with his outright stupid assertions

I wonder how many at any stage in their life would happily take out a £20k+ debt with the chance of increased earnings.
And only have to pay it back should they earn over a set amount.
I was in the last year of any course that got free tuition fees. But would happily have paid. And would also encourage my kids to go to uni should they wish.
As someone posted on here, if you leave Uni with debts and get a job on £25k you pay back £400/year towards your student loan. People go on as if they walk out of Uni having to hand over half their wage for thirty years or something. I don't think it's a bad system. Ofcourse JC wants to abolish it and win the student vote.
I would like to think that the stereotype of students being left wing by default is wrong.
Ultimately a lot of students will form their opinion based on how they see the world.
I would hope that a situation like student fees, is less of an emotional problem unlike the NHS.
As such im hopefully a reasonably percentage of students are in agreement with paying for tuition.
If not they will be once they've got older and actually contributed to society
