I once tweeted that he and Farage share the same funders. Tagging neither in. Jones then had me blocked.

They’re all unpleasant extremists though, right?

Given the boy Owens liberal nature. I wonder what punishment he thinks is appropriate for the offender?

Obviously it shouldn't be prison, or a fine or even a written apology as that would be RIGHT WING.

Only seen Jones on TV in situations where his contrived attitude can only be met with verbals. I suspect his attitudes elsewhere are similar but natural justice prevails and he gets bashed. He is antagonistic and hoping for a reaction he can turn to his advantage by creating publicity. The worst thing anyone could do to him is to ignore the prat.

Ah the eternal dilemma - 'gulag' seems to be the preferred method of the compassionate left, a 10 seems to be appropriate, although, with the cold and everything, don't get a return ticket.

A dreadful incident that will clearly live with him for along time, the repercussions of which could have been much worse.

I think a GoFundMe page is surely needed. I mean the perp is going to need new shoes, or at least a damned good wash and brush up, possibly some physio on a stubbed toe, too.

wink

I’d rather see a GofkYourself page. I think it’d get more contributors.

Police say:

‘Although Mr Jones only sustained minor injuries to his back, arm and head, Det Sgt Barefoot said: "The effects of becoming a victim of such an attack can continue when any injuries have healed."’

What a shame.

Clearly he has a pre-existing brain injury.

I don’t think he is making such a comparison;)
Let us quickly examine what got us to this point.

Jake knows I am against violence

Jake reads I have applauded a post that says regardless of the victims politics/ideologies he does not deserve to be assaulted

Jake then surmises from this that I am the kind of person who would have thought it OK to try to debate with Hitler rather than use force (I do believe that all diplomatic means should be exhausted before use of force, that is where it gets its legitimacy as last resort from)

So, Jake is using a comparison with the third Reich to this scuffle for the purposes of his argument.

Edited by biggbn on Sunday 18th August 21:59

I understand what Jake is driving at, but to claim he is not using the two topics in a comparative way when that is exactly what he did is wrong. For what it's worth i enjoy my little spars with Jake, and others on here. They think differently to me but can always justify why. I am not claiming moral hegemony because of my own philosophies and ideologies, they are merely right for me at this point in my life, so, selfishly, they guide me for now. Who knows, life may complete the circle and I may change my mind again in the future?

This latest episode reminds me of that Jeremy Clarkson thread.

That had a disappointing number of PHers finding some way (any way!) to blame the TV producer who Clarkson thumped. Same old victim blaming.

Owen now claims some far right hooligans were bragging about it online before he went public.

Only if you assume without any question that...
A) There is a victim
B) OJ was the victim

A healthy dose of cynicism is, sadly, necessary these days, especially when the apparent crime fits so very neatly into the apparent victim's existing political outlook. There are numerous examples of people staging their own "hate crimes". This does NOT mean this is definitely one of them, but if you always accept these as 100% true without any challenge, then the Jussie Smollets of the world have carte blanche to have anyone crucified by the courts/media that they don't like.

And yet, he doesn't link to it, or screenshot it or report it. Which is odd given he would do that against a political opponent

Is the Pub concerned. There's several cameras on the front, there's a camera on "Born" on the other side of the road. So shouldn't be too difficult to trace the attackers and or show the CCTV to get witnesses.

On Twitter Andrew Neil and Rod Liddle have offered "solidarity" and he's responded by attacking them both rolleyes

"Hard to like" doesn't really do it justice
