This.
The way to win elections (from the position of opposition) is to get people who wouldn't vote for you, to vote for you. It's why Blair won! "Mondeo man" etc
But even in Glastonbury there will be people who didn't vote who may vote next time who will be influenced by it.The way to win elections (from the position of opposition) is to get people who wouldn't vote for you, to vote for you. It's why Blair won! "Mondeo man" etc

Still, somehow Comrade Corbyn is seen as "cool", Why is beyond most normal thinking people. But remember at one time, being a grown up liking Rolf Harris was seen as cool. Or liking the Lostprophets, or...
Do you think Jeremy Cobyn is a paedophile?Rich_W said:

TM on the other hand, seen door knocking in Scotland where nobody answered the door, and not showing up for a leaders debate.

What he is doing is tapping into the fact that young people are wakening up to politics at last; old fart; redneck and blow you jack I'm alright politics are going to be challenged, has to be good for democracy surely?
So his policies, which include involved increased public sector costs and increased state pensions, to be paid for by the 'young', will benefit 'young people' how exactly?dimots said:

Please define 'normal' beyond 'not bloody socialists'. It would really help me to understand your point. Thanks.I doubt any (well most at least) of us would not want to see the complete privatisation of a health system made available only to those that can afford it, to use a moderate example, or the removal of state funding for education, as a more extreme example.
Limited socialism is not a bad thing, and I suspect most of us would agree that's it's worth a bit extra out of our wages/profits every month to cover those less fortunate, if for no other reason than we may become one of them some day.
Indeed what Corbyn is offering is perfumed arse water to people who can't see why excessive taxation on the bourgeoisie and large corporations will end in disaster, and some considerable time before it becomes 'their children's problem'.
But many here (and I detect a Corbynite or two in the crowd saying similar), are not wrong when they suggest that the Tories have to sell something more positive than 'more of the same plus a little bit worse' like some kind of insolvency practitioner managing a voluntary arrangement to a deadline.
The Tories also need to return to solid conservative ideas and values. As I've said before - that does not include Snooper's Charters and handy adjustments to human rights. To any thinking/educated person, these things smack of authoritarianism and totalitarianism.

You don't hear too much from Hillary Clinton since she lost the election unfortunately the same can't be said about Jeremy Corbyn.

Most kids have socialist ideals, because to date most have lived a socialist existence (i.e. spending other people's money). Who wouldn't want that!
It's only once they get into the big wide world that many realise their life isn't going to be funded by the grace of other people's money - and that's when many start to change their attitude (and voting intention).
This always comes up. What do you mean by "other people's money?".It's only once they get into the big wide world that many realise their life isn't going to be funded by the grace of other people's money - and that's when many start to change their attitude (and voting intention).

Companies making vast profits like this is exactly what they're objecting to. Their beef is with the poor legislation that allows companies to make vast profits, not with the companies themselves.Edited by durbster on Saturday 24th June 20:24
