If Obama had put children in cages, I would comdemn him roundly, but Trump is lying. Trump always lies. Falling for Trump lies, Orban lies, Le Pen lies, Farage lies, BoJo lies, Rees-Mogg lies, May lies, Corbyn lies - these are choices. Many here are happy with those choices (Corbyn only excepted - he tells the wrong sort of lies for the people here).
BV, EVERYBODY lies. . This includes both sides and all players
in your chosen profession.
In fact , when it comes down to it, it would be hard to ascertain who lies
the most, your lot. or politicians

That comment merely shows your profound ignorance and prejudice. I suppose that a cartoon world of primary colours and broad brushes is easier for some to live in than a world of dull realities.

I must be the worst lawyer in the world, because in over 30 years in the job I have never told a lie as part of my work. I know lots of other similarly rubbish lawyers. Of course, we all admire those relatively few true exemplars of our profession who are good at fibs. If only we could be them!

Many politicians lie, and equivocate or mislead. Some are honest, or as nearly honest as they can be. As noted, however, Trump lies as a matter of system. routine and policy. See also the likes of Johnson, Farage, and Rees Mogg -systematic and calculating liars who either intend harm to the public, or do not care about that so long as they do OK. Various others are on scales of relative honesty, and some are public spirited and try to do good, even if they fail.

The enemies of democracy spread the lie that all politicians are venal and dishonest, as making people distrust politicians, and distrust democracy itself, are part of the plan.

Chris, respectfully, you appear to be believing Trump's lies.

I assume you would consider Time Magazine a reputable journalistic source? If so, please read:

To be frank, I don't trust any of them, I trust Trump's administration as much as I trusted and believed Obama's, and I trust May as much as I trust Corbyn. No political affiliation here. I will not vote for either.

Also, regarding the NHS and the extra tax us net tax contributors will have to end up paying, isn't the real problem that too many people are using it without ever contributing anything in their lives, and too few are paying the tax to cover all those who pay nothing? I wonder what the real ratio is between those who contribute and those who do not these days.

I do not for one second believe the economy is as strong and buoyant as it's made out to be. I pay more tax now, under May's government, than I ever did under any Labour government. And now, I assume it will increase again to go into that black hole that is the NHS. I am sure that still will not be enough, nothing ever will be.

Saying "they are all the same" is a counsel for despair. Weariness with democracy set in across Europe in the 1930s. Many said "we need strong new leaders". Politicians (populists, liars) who pretended not to be politicians stepped forward to "drain the swamp". People said yay. Even some sensible people said "I do not like this new guy - he is crude and awful, but we need to clean house. Then we will get rid of him". Then some stuff happened.

* "Drain the swamp" in this context means turn the whole place into a vast and extra fetid swamp.

I couldn't possibly comment on your performance as a lawyer, nor what world ranking
you currently hold based on it. I have no prejudice against the legal profession, nor am I profoundly ignorant of it's machinations. Therefore your assumption is based on a lie.

You really don't understand how or know why Mrs. May is being strategically reticent on one of those two examples? I believe you do and you are therefore doing two things at once: lying and trolling. Amazing.

As opposed to the 'enemies of democracy' that seek to suggest that only right-wing politicians are venal and dishonest...?

Mrs May stood up today during PM questions and wholeheartedly condemned the ‘children in cages’ policy. Not much else she can do, certainly cannot place demands on foreign policy but can and has applied political pressure. Why breadvan72 missed this remains a mystery that only he can reply to I suppose.

Some people - Tony Blair is a good example - always believe that whatever they might be saying at the time is true.

It's easy to sell a lie when you don't think it is one. Useful skill when you're trying to convince people of your argument whether it might be.
