Well we're at that time of year again, so what's your plans for her?

Best one my son did last year was rig up a zip wire taking her round the lounge when a choccie was eaten releasing the Elf.

So what's yours?

Not doing it.

More absolute crap designed to cheapen the celebrations.

B0ll0cks to it.

As mentioned above, seems to be a form of behaviour blackmail so we don't.

Pretty harmless. Two kids here, well behaved lad and st of a daughter! They both enjoy seeing the elves (one each) getting up to mischief and finding them in staged predicaments each morning. Nothing too adventurous here, had a zip wire but the elves were just hanging. 'They' have also wrapped the tree in loo roll, stuffed all the chocolates (with chocolate round their mouths) and probably other stuff I've forgotten. I'll ask the wife if anyone needs ideas.

My wife runs an after school club and there's also another elf there from today. To me it's just an added little thing to add to the 'magic of Christmas' before they get older, rather than a way to get them to behave.

To make kids behave and threaten a report to Santa you put a naughty elf in your house doing bad things ??
Seems back to front.

Have the elf doing good things but also reporting to santa makes more sense.

Oh come on you bunch of miserable old goats, it's a BIT OF FUN at Christmas time. Remember that? Fun? Ever had any?

I'll be setting the elf up in various scenarios for when my Grandkids come and visit, in fact my eight year old granddaughter just phoned me, she wants to come and see what my naughty elf's been up to. To see the look of wonder and disbelief on their faces is something magical. I feel sorry for all you MOG's hereabouts.

It's a shame my two are now way too old. I'd have done this in a flash. Looks great fun!

My nieces and nephews do this, every year, with my brothers and sisters.

I can understand parents doing it for kids but fully grown adults putting daily updates on social media when they don't even have kids... council.

I am pretty sure the whole concept is for adults to post pics on facebook etc to show how "fun" they are.....

Ah must of missed this then, first I saw of it was a couple posting them for their kids.

I can think of better things to be doing.

My favourite conspiracy theory is that Elf on a shelf was started to condition children to accept the idea of living in a surveillance state. Makes sense. :tinfoilhat:

The wife introduced it last year, it's quite a commitment - which usually falls to me to come up with something creative at the end of the evening. We forgot the other day, cue mad panic at 6:30am to beat the kids downstairs! Oh joy!
