thumbup that's our first choice of area. I suppose we better get this thread back on topic about the sky falling in. hehe
Ha! I must be a unicorn...have had houses in France and done business in many countries around Europe, yet voted Leave. Just because you want a divorce, doesn't mean you don't love someone.

More importantly...

Best agent in the area by a country mile is Carl Scholfield.

Do they currently levy it for non EU citizens living there? Canadians, Americans, etc?
That's a very good question...I'm afraid I don't know, but if you are looking to buy, a good estate agent will know all about it.

It took me three years to reclaim, but we got there in the end.

I loved having a house in France...a great place to live. We sold our houses there after my father died...too many memories.

If you want a great place to live, we were near Agen in the SW - good communications via BOD and TLS, plus the new TGV Grand Vitesse coming through, plus better economy than the Dordogne, so less of a "them and us" feeling with the locals. We made real friends.

As for the rest of Europe, I have done business in most places and would happily look at Portugal and Sweden as my top interesting places to live. Mind you, I am typing this by the pool in Madeira on my first visit to the island. Great climate, lovely people, cheap cost of living, very well organised and maintained. Perhaps another option for you to consider!
It doesn't matter where you live in the world- if you are an American citizen..... the US Govt wants some tax off you.
Monaco is free for millionaires - except if you are American...

Many thanks, I'll take a look through that. I will admit our divorce partner is high maintenance, no doubt about that.

I guess it depends if you want a massively biased report or something more credible?

We'd be pleased to hear your rebuttal instead of mockery. We'd all be better off.

Answers the question "What has ///ajd been reading for the last few weeks?".

In which case I'm pleased it's rattled your cage. I will try to find more stuff you can sneer at.

This guy is also entertaining: https://twitter.com/EmporersNewC

But I'm sure the view on here is that he's some insane crackpot vegetable botherer who should be ridiculed and attacked.

Rattled my cage? rofl

I'm not even a brexiteer, I'm just capable of recognising propaganda when I see it. It's not even hard in this instance, the home page has a great big photo of a thunderstorm over London on it, it couldn't be much more explicit.

Some or even all of the stories may be correct but, if you can find one positive story about brexit on there I'll be amazed. Not exactly balanced is it?

It's not biased. There are no positive stories about Brexit. We are all going to die. In poverty.

Plenty of people are 'entertaining', doesn't mean they aren't massively biased!

Hint - he's american. So I suspect doesn't have quite the same axe to grind as a 'Bremoaner' (as I believe you'd express it).

He's just pointing out that since the 70s the uk has been committed/involved/instrumental/influential in shaping EU policy. We largely got what we wanted. Until someone stuck 350 million on the side of a bus, that is.

Is that the best you've got?

Remind me what happened when Cameron tried to negotiate a change to way we engage with the EU...?

What's funny?

What happened? Apart from Farage and Co repeatedly telling everyone willing to listen that it's them furiners who are the reason for lack of places in schools, traffic jams, waiting lists in hospitals and that we demand 'suverenity or else!'.

What has any of that got to do wth Cameron's 'negotiation' with the EU?
