However, Mrs Urquhart said officers were surprised not to have found Corrie yet as they went straight for the area that was identified as having rubbish from that bin lorry placed there.
However, they are now widening the search area to look at areas nearby where the load from the bin lorry in question is likely to be.
“They were surprised they didn’t find him where they were looking before, which is why they’re now trying this area. I would say it’s quite an important week,” said Mrs Urquhart.
She said she and the police were all confident the search so far has been so thorough Corrie could not have been missed.
“Any bits they’ve searched up until now I think it’s fair to say he’s definitely not been in,” she said.
She said this week’s search would concentrate on looking further back in the landfill and preparatory work took place on Friday and Monday.
“They know they’re looking for Greggs rubbish and they’ve not passed Greggs rubbish yet,” Mrs Urquhart said. “They’ve found the odd Greggs cup but they’ve not found what should be a substantial amount of Greggs-branded rubbish.”

This may sound a stupid thing to say but how much rubbish from Gregs own bins would be branded as such, particularly the non-recycleable stuff? Most of the branded things such as bags, paper cups, sandwich wrappers etc get taken away by their customers and binned elsewhere not put in their own bin? I would have assumed the big trade bin would be boxes and more bulky unbranded packing that stock is delivered in?
Apparently the rubbish has migrated naturally so theyre having to extend the search

Back to Greggs?

Surely if time goes on and he isn't found at the tip then the Police will have to admit they don't have an unlimited budget & stop.
Early 'evidence' suggested he wasn't in the bin lorry (due to the weight) so no point searching the tip, when that evidence was later found to be false the Police arranged to search the tip. We don't know the fine detail of the investigation so can't comment on the competence of the police force.

What price do you put on a missing persons investigation? This one has just reportedly gone over the £1million mark, but the budget spent on Madeline Mcann is over £11 so far....Early 'evidence' suggested he wasn't in the bin lorry (due to the weight) so no point searching the tip, when that evidence was later found to be false the Police arranged to search the tip. Or is it £1m extra for overtime or external search dogs or something

where is the police intuition, common sense, logic?
All the pub talk in the local area from the outset was that corrie had kipped in the bin and then fate took its horrible hand.
Just another fast track police officer lacking in real world experience, imo

Roy said: “He ran across the A11 at Barton Mills in front of my van. He was wearing the clothes in the police description – pink shirt, brown boots.
“He stopped on the central reservation and adjusted the jeans above his boots with his foot on the crash barrier.
“Then he ran to the other side and disappeared near an Esso station. He stood out because it was 4.30am, very cold and he was in shirt sleeves. It’s a notorious meeting place for swingers and doggers. I wouldn’t have thought it was a safe place for a lad on his own.”
Roy said he and his wife Maria both reported the sighting to Suffolk Police but detectives failed to follow up the lead.
A force spokesman said: “Police have the report, the time given was prior to Corrie’s phone leaving Bury St Edmunds. There was nothing to link this to Corrie.”
It later emerged his phone had been tracked moving 12 miles north west to Barton Mills, the site of a rubbish tip.

Or the timings are out and the tracking of the phone is him
