So, the political opportunist but utterly hopeless long-term strategist Sturgeon has publicly supported the Catalans' attempt to hold an illegal independence referendum, thus ensuring Spain will never support an attempt by Scotland to join the EU.

rolleyes

So, when she promises to voters that an independent Scotland will apply to rejoin she isn't lying, she's just being disingenuous about their chances of gaining entry.
I interpret that to indicate that she has completely given up on Indyref (so the Spanish opinion of Scottish Independence/rejoining the EU is irrelevant for a long time); and has returned to her natural ground of stirring up grievance and division wherever she can.

And how would you power that generator...
Well you just plug it....... oh fk that doesn't work does it!
Could that work?

A separate petrol generator on board charging the batteries of an EV. Could you do that and drive it too?

The prospect of tax rises in 2018 will be an interesting one. SNP supporters bang on about wanting a ‘fairer and more equal scotland’ (whatever that even means). Let’s see if they still feel that way when the SNP tax grab accelerates.

But who in their core support cares about tax rises when so many are unemployed, "mature students", or unemployable (or a combination of those, perhaps all 3)

The SNP are hardly likely to turn the screw on their faithful followers, noooo, it'll be coming from the usual bankers/toffs/inheritance etc etc, with a few mentions thrown in of Westminster, social justice, power grabs.....etc etc yada yada snooze

But are there enough 'core support' that won't be affected by tax rises to keep them in power?

I don’t think there are enough unemployed people in Scotland to manage that.

The supporters who do work, and find their money being taken will get annoyed and go elsewhere.

Socialism is only fair when it’s not you paying for it.

Wow the nats are getting their knickers in a twist because Neil Oliver has been appointed President of the National Trust for Scotland. How dare anyone who opposed independence be appointed in this role, I have seen pictures of membership cards being cut up and insults being hurled at him.

I wonder if Nippy would do something similar if she felt the polls were in her favour?

I was in Barcelona 5 years ago when they had a large independence demonstration. There were 1.5 - 2 million demonstrators on the streets, from a population of 7.5M. It was unbelievable, the crowds, the noise as well as the good humour and sobriety. SNP could never mobilise popular support to that degree here- a couple degrees of magnitude less in the crowds at demonstrations here.

The other difference being that Catalonia is the economic powerhouse of Spain and easily financially independent without loss of standard of living, and Scotland isn't.

I suspect there are a few who will accept an increase in taxes as needs must to sort out the health and education systems. They'll convince themselves that it's for a noble cause and only the SNP can sort it out but forget, of course, that the SNP are the ones who created the mess in the first place.

But hey if it's all for independence and Scotland governing itself it can only be a good thing

Indeed - how dare they appoint somebody whose view on Scottish independence mirrored that of the majority of Scots hehe

Not sure you can get a refund from the national trust.

I wonder how many have life time Memberships and are amongst this sad wee group.

To think spoiling what generally is a great family day out with a bit of history thrown in to boot and at a very reasonable price they elect not to go due to some bizarre protest reason which has nothing to do with the National trust.
