I'm usually bouncing up and down with excitement at a Star Wars trailer, but that just left me cold. Genuinely 'meh'.
I went mental when I saw the trailer for Rogue One and that really delivered.
I hope the film does more....
yeah there wasn't in that teaser that made me think OMG OMG. usually a good trailer will have some kind of special thing in it that would have you talking. much like how the trailer for the last movie had Han and chewie. the only thing I got from this was that Rey's being trained in the way yoda trained luke and we might see the knights of ren. the latter of which I am not suprised about as we saw flashbacks.I went mental when I saw the trailer for Rogue One and that really delivered.
I hope the film does more....

Goosebumps all over at this end!
They are great at this sort of marketing aren't they. Don't finish filming it for some while yet either.

At the part she's practicing with the lightsabre I presume it's luke on the right. But is that a small figure on the rock on the left or is that my yoda eyes?
Just a pile of rocks.ralphrj said:

Unless they are doing extensive re-shoots then filming will have finished some time ago.According to Rian Johnson (the Director), principal photography was completed on 22nd July last year.

Kevin Smith just casually (and presumably accidentally) mentioned that Rey is Luke's Daughter in his commentary over the new trailer.
Considering he knows JJ (and was in The Force Awakens) and has been on the set etc chances are he does know things that aren't as yet confirmed.
I don't think Kevin Smith is all that well informed. Rey being Luke's daughter is too obvious to actually be true. Plus there is the dialogue she has with Maz in episode 7.Considering he knows JJ (and was in The Force Awakens) and has been on the set etc chances are he does know things that aren't as yet confirmed.
Rey - "What was that? I shouldn't have gone in there"
Maz - "That lightsaber was Luke's, and his father's before him and now it calls to you!"
Rey - "I have to get back to Jakku"
Maz - "Han told me" (they hold hands) "Dear child, I see your eyes - you already know the truth. Whomever you are waiting for on Jakku, they're never coming back" Rey cries "but, there's someone who still could"
Rey - "Luke"
Maz - "The belonging you seek is not behind you, it is ahead. I am no jedi, but I know the force. It moves through and surrounds every living thing. Close your eyes, feel it. The light. It's always been there. It will guide you. The sabre - take it."
Rey - "I'm never touching that thing again, I don't want any part of this"
That more or less implies that Luke isn't her father.

Really looking forward to this, i can see it being a dark film like empire was.
Since episode 7 could easily be thought of as a remake of episode 4, it's fair to assume episode 8 will be similar to 5.There will be a cinematic battle near the start. There will be Jedi training. There will a big family/relationship reveal. There will be a lost-cause type ending.
I hope Rey is LUke's, it would be fitting for narrativia.
Thinking more on this, I think they've made a big mistake with where these films are going. We had the evil Empire sorted, that's done. Now it's First Order, ywan. It should have been a much smaller, tighter story, more personal. One can still have epic battles in space, but in my mind a story centred around killing/eradicating the Skywalkers would have been better. How many films have we had/coming up where absolutely everything is on the line!?!?[...with a thousand elephants!?!? We have the anthology films for everything else, stories that are not jedi/big series based. Maybe a civil war, who knows, but since the primary stories are Skywalker based, they missed a big trick in my mind to make it solely about them, we give a st about Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie, Lando et al, and whomever the new lot who get the face/heel rub from them will be. I reckon an insidious revenge plot about killing them would have been ace, full of great acting, plot, twists and the like...instead we got a very so-so bland retread of Star Wars.
I hope the new bloke in charge has more of a vision to come.
