However, Derek's latest claim on the reason for the snap election are quite interesting, if not a bit bizarre, but a little short of evidence or personal, if anecdotal, experience and he seems to be in a majority of one proffering it. He also claims that others are blinkered, which they may well be, but then climbs aboard a high horse claiming not to be blinkered himself, despite, IIRC, his views on the Tories and May being well aired in other threads.
I had seen it elsewhere....

my brother had linked to the article on FB but with the source being Dennis Skinner make of it what you will!

What are people's thoughts on JCs performance on the Andrew Marr show today all about the election manifesto etc.
Can't or won't make decisions when under pressure.
Thinks he can give world leaders a quick phone call to get them to sit round a table and solve world peace and then stick to what they say. Can you imagine Syria, Russia, USA and the EU countries sat around a table all agreeing to play nicely ?

Defence minister says trident will be in the manifesto, he wouldn't commit either way.

Going to fund schools, NHS and everything else because there is obviously an unlimited money tree somewhere.

Overall he won't commit to anything tangible/measurable, won't make decisions, doesn't make his viewpoints clear, has lots of "wants" for the country but seemingly no insight how to make it happen.

Cloud cuckoo land.

Very evasive which is hardly surprising when he doesn't seem to want to commit to anything that might upset someone somewhere especially when it came to national security.

Seems Farron has just self imploded by refusing to say that gay sex isn't a sin on Robert Peston's program https://twitter.com/DMcCaffreySKY/status/856079066...

Wow.
Fair play if that's what he personally believes - but my god what a foolish stance to take.

So, as well as not being democratic, the Liberal Democrats are no longer very liberal. I'd suggest a name change may be in order.

I think compared to other European countries, we are a bit light on Bank hols.

I wouldn't mind another couple of bank hols, but 4? and 3 clustered during Spring, if you factor in the existing Easter hols, spring time would be one big holiday.

Besides, if that's all labour can think of to win a GE I wouldn't worry too much.

My missus is Indian and was always extremely frustrated by the number holidays there. Seems all of the hundreds of different religions, regions, government departments etc... get equal weighting for holidays. She says there's rarely a full working week in the year.

Having complained my vote is a waste, as a muppet could win where I live, the existing muppet, Eric Pickles, is not standing for re-election. So I guess a Mr Who ? will be slotted in. Just like his predecessor actually!

Perhaps if they'd just drop the silly anti-Brexit policy they could merge with UKIP...

Corbyn saying he would not order the killing of the leader of Isil if he gets into power! You're a shoe in now Jezza!

In the land of over zealous PC and the often offended on others behalf brigade, I'm not surprised he refuses.

I barely like weekends, everyday should be exactly the same.

Picking on Derek now. Really?

The same can't be said about some of his attackers here, whose posts are often content free.
Says the person who trawls the internet for bad news Brexit stuff and just posts the link with a sarcastic comment. Post some more links to some Denis McShane articles without comment would you !
The Times, the bastion of the left. Let's pick today as random top Brexit news story:
https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/trump-puts-eu-a...
I don't think you understand, not for the first time. He complains about content free posts while daily trawling the net and posting any negative article he can find without any discussion to just troll. That he then complains about the same is somewhat ironic.
Are you saying just posting links to news stories about brexit should not be allowed on brexit threads?

If they have a link, they are not content free, however much you might want to pretend they are so you can ignore their inconvenient content that clearly makes you uncomfortable. I understand this motivation very well - it is so obvious.

There is a difference. Ironically, your post is just a personal attack on me for linking to articles relevant to the topic. That is content free for the topic at hand. Mmm.

It is interesting that some brexiteers (well most here it seems) - can't bear to talk about or even admit to any bad news on brexit. This is becoming part of the story.
No fair minded person would say I was arguing for it not to be allowed, but then you come across as one of the least fair minded anywhere.
Post them if you wish to, but you may look silly and as if you are just trolling when you conduct debate by posting as many links as you can from willing sources without comment, and then complain about others doing the same.

I'm more than happy to comment on Brexit matters, but you do have to post some actual bad news first because I might not bother on silly Dennis MacShane articles of waffle and fluff for the gullible end of the remainer market. In short, post something of some substance to be taken seriously.

So anyone posting links without some sort of commentary is "silly".

There is clearly a difference between adding content that is relevant and just throwing insults.

Most I'm sure can see it. I think you probably can too but would prefer to engage in this pointless spat trying to suggest they are the same.

Not anyone, no, more just you. But this is really all you do and don't even seem to read half the stuff you link. You look silly for doing your daily round of the Guardian and Indy and posting a link with a sarcastic comment of 'told you so' . What did you think you were going to look like posting MacShane articles as 'look more bad news' type rubbish ?
Being the anti Brexit boy that cried wolf for years is why people don't take you seriously when on occasion you do post something worth talking about. Try less of a Facebook type style of posting links in a PR war and more of posting something of substance.

You continue to refuse to engage in sensible debate and instead just continue trotting out hysteria.

You have proved time and time again that you are simply an empty vessel.
