Intruders shoot dead homeowner in St Ives.
Discussion
Poor man and his family! Not sure if the stats back this up (or whether it's just the way things are reported in the news) but there seems to be increase in aggravated burglaries these days.
The 61-year-old, believed to be a businessman, was shot when at least two intruders broke into a detached house in the quiet village of St Ives near Ringwood, Dorset, on the outskirts of the New Forest at just before 3am on Sunday morning. He was rushed to hospital where he was later pronounced dead. One other person was in the property at the time and is said to be "deeply traumatised" and being supported by officers. Police have launched a murder inquiry and are treating the break in as aggravated burglary. It is not thought that the gunmen were known to the victim.

I have been growing up in South London from 97' to 10 , never have I ever seen the stuff I see now. When police came we fked off double quick, now when the police come they get beaten up ffs

I wonder if this was a targeted attack and not just for burglary purposes. Guns are unusual for that.
It wasn't cuts that have contributed to the rising numbers of knife attacks he said.
Its the fact that the Police at now stopped from doing stop n search on anyone not white, because the first response to any such stop is "I know my rights" closely followed by "You're being racist" (from all manner of fkwits)
He pointed out that the demographic of knife carriers in the less well off parts of the city are young black males. But those of a liberal persuasion were unable to accept or believe that. So they can't prevent (some) knife crimes, and the cycle continues.

Six people stabbed to death in London in 7 days . Nope, "cuts" don't hurt anyone
There was a Met Police guy (may have been ex) on the radio the other day.It wasn't cuts that have contributed to the rising numbers of knife attacks he said.

The home secretary, Theresa May, is to introduce a "comprehensive package" reforming the use of police stop-and-search powers after telling MPs that as many as a quarter of a million street searches last year were probably carried out illegally.
The home secretary said she wanted the battery of revised codes, best practice schemes and new methods of accountability to lead to a significant reduction in the use of stop and search, more intelligence-led targeted operations, and better arrest ratio

I used to live round the corner from there!
Poor guy!
I could hit a golf ball off my roof with a driver & hit that place! & a pitching wedge off another place I have & hit it. Poor guy!
Was round there this morning & didn't see anything,
This really is a low crime area & this sort of thing is very out of character.

Lightly off topic (for such a terrible incident, but today nothing surprises).
Have the Telegraph pinched a Wail theme?
Not just a mention of the price of the poor sod's property, but they include it in the actual heading!
As if it has any relevance whatsoever.
Perhaps they think it will sell more newspapers?
Just to add, when I saw the thread title my immediate thought was St Ives ...Cornwall.
