There are so many youtube videos now with bikers who rev their bikes off the limiter every time they get cut up or blocked etc. They look like s doing it. They sound like s doing it and most importantly they are not in full control of their bikes when doing it, so chances are they may well have an accident.

I have never ever felt the need to do this, am I missing a trick?

An example in first 30secs of this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMEDbrED5bc&t=...

Easier and louder than honking the horn.

And if your clutch is engaged and you have no drive it is also a st load easier to crash?

Seen a fair few vids now with these s so busy on the rev limiter their bike is not stopping or they are not steering clear of the danger as quick as they could be.

You don't have to be bounching it off the limiter, but a decent rev soons gets the attention of whatever idiot isn't paying attention.

And it IS faster and easier than beeping, and louder too for most bikes. Fumbling for the horn is more dangerous than a quick dip of the clutch and a twist of the throttle, given that those 2 actions are ones performed thousands of times a week for most bikers.

If someone's really pissed me off they'll get both the horn and a rev. biggrin

The horn is like a squeak on most bikes.

The noise my horn makes it just an embarrassment to my already minimal manlyhood.

This gentleman makes good use of both; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4KqJYDwxsk&t=...

I followed a guy this morning down the motorway that insisted on revving and shaking his head at anyone that didn't move the extra 1mm over for him - he was on a gsxr, I was on a GS (I know...!) and I had more than enough room to filter through.

He proceeded to give it the beans at every clear bit of road and then hammer on the anchors when any form of filtering was needed meaning I was catching him up every time...que the revving and shaking his head at everyone again.

It's a wide dual carriage/motorway with very wide lanes, anyway a swift pass made for a much happier commute without having to listen to him get all irate for no reason.

Unfortunately there are people like that in every sport. I've seen riders like that too and they are about as special as the vloggers that get all gangsta on their videos almost looking for people that move out their way or potentially cut them up... 50ft ahead

What a tosser he was loser
I do not honk or flash and certainly do not rev (that's so chav) when I filter, simply because filtering is not allowed.
Most car drivers here are considerate enough (or smart enough, after some experience) to leave some space in the middle for the bikes to pass through the dense traffic, or they see you in the mirror and make way. Personally, when I am in a car, I always do that, the biker will not take space and will be faster anyway, why make his/her life painful?

I do get a bit upset when busterds try to cut me off on purpose.
Last time I was going behind an Octavia for 10 minutes in the right lane in the city traffic, then I switched to the left lane and was about to pass the dude as he decided to switch into left lane right in front of me, I braked and he saw me because he twitched back into his lane, so I try to pass him again and the tosser starts to switch right into me! I had to accelerate to pass, then we stopped at red light next to each other, I look at the guy, he looks at me and freaking smirks!
I hit his mirror with my right fist, not enough to brake the mirror, but enough to erase the dumbass smirk off his dumbass face.

The other time I was on highway doing 65mph in left lane and a dude in a big Audi SQ7 just cut me off from the right lane. Then he threw me a middle finger as well through the window. What a focker! But that SQ7 is damn fast, I must say.

Then there are also women who see you coming between cars, or see you trying to pass on the left to turn off to the left (when the whole long queue, including them, stands to go straight) and they just block you off on purpose. All I can do is shake my head at these women, but I do not honk/flash/rev.

Filtering is legal in the UK (making a guess you're in the UK?!), as long as it's done with due care and attention
