Apparently there were 2 baloons on the stage filled with gas.
Only 1 or 2 explosions were heard by people who live in the area.

I'm miles out of Manchester city centre - in Cheshire... And we heard the explosions. Our dog started shaking... I'd be surprised if it were just a balloon or speaker.

Absolutely awful news, looking at what is on Twitter the crowd appears to be mainly young teenagers. Looks like parents in a waiting area where met with scenes of sheer panic frown

I couldn't hear the explosions for some reason and I'm watching the police out my window now - I only wondered what was going on when I noticed a swarm of ambulances and a section of great ancoats street being shut off. Decided to check the Manchester evening news website and was shocked

Rumours of dead kids and at least 50 emergency vehicles on the scene. Getting worse by the minute.
Capacity is 21,000. 50 emergency vehicles isn't that many for an event with that attendance.

From a car park that is a reasonable distance from the arena, seems to be a fairly powerful explosion frown

Folk starting to tweet posts of kids and adults who are not answering phones. Looks grim.

That could be anything though , a stampede and she falls and breaks her nose for instance.

If it was bomb surely the kids being interviewed now would of smelt explosives , would of seen the injuries and there not saying that.

I've heard more than my fair share of large speakers blow up in my time and the initial sound from videos far exceeds the sound of a speaker blowing up.

It's either gas or a bomb.

Just hope casualties aren't as large as being predicted on some of the news channels.

If there has been stampedes i'd expect phones to be lost.
Phone batteries gone too due to videos being taken all throughout the day and concert.

Plenty of children are at the Holiday Inn close by.

Surprised it's been an hour and a half and no concrete news on what's happened yet. Just appears to be a confused scene at the moment.

Largest indoor arena in Europe? So they say... so the sheer amount of people in panic; lost will be huge.
