I'm sure everyone has a different opinion with this but I'm really after advice and constructive reasons for the choices....

In short I've currently got a Maserati 3200GT which is awesome!! And I'll hopefully never part with her, BUT as you'd expect its not an ideal every day car!

In essence what I want is a car that gives me the thrill of the Maserati but I can run everyday and won't cost me my kidney every time it goes into the garage (Maserati being more specialist)...

Criteria:
Sub 5 sec's 0-60
150 mph+
Reliable
Usable for long journeys and around town
Under £15k
Must sound awesome (even if I change the exhaust! - I love the V8 sound :-) )

I know the Porsche Boxster, BMW M's, Audi RS's etc all possibly FIT the bill, but I like cars that are rare or unusual... And to be fair theres so many Porsche, BMW & Audi's on the road no-ine gives them a second glance!!! (Sorry if I upset anyone with one but theres loads about)...

(I was thinking maybe a BMW 645 / 650, or JAG XKR ??)

That depends on what car is suggested! Whilst it's not a modern Supercar, Jaguar xkr's, bmw m6 alpinas etc are still supercars plus many more!

Thanks for the suggestion!! Nice..but I was after a bit longer automotive relationship than a few weekends fun, albeit exhilarating :-) Maybe I'd get more weekend from an R8 ...lol

VW Golf R Mk7. Get a quick remap on it, and it will be under 4secs to 60 and top 170mph.

Give it a while for some further depreciation, and everyone's favourite Junior Supercar should tick every box nicely smile

If you can live with LHD, a Mustang GT. New ones are becoming a common sight, but until a couple of years ago Mustangs were 'different' and thats one of the reasons I owned several. Nearly all are unique due to the aftermarket mods done to them.

Standard performance just about meets your criteria, and again many tuning mods available once you get bored.

Reliable and cheap to run, £15k gets you a nice 2005-09 car, but check CARFAX history if a recent import

..........or a Corvette? Definitely gets the 'second glance' you want, whereas a Jag XK or 645 BMW don't

Virtually zero depreciation too,

YEP.. Good suggestion.. That was actually one I'd thought about... STRONG POSSIBILITY I'll go for one of these but I'm not sure if £15k will get one yet?

Thanks...& Nice selection and definitely not the everyday.. I do like the new mustang and they are still lesser-spotted for the 5ltr...but 2nd hand they are still well over the £15k... Don't know much about the corvettes reliability??
I did wonder about Holden V8 but again don't know anything about them and reliability? :-)

Yep it's on the short list..but... Mates got one and he's changed the exhaust so sounds great... Unfortunately his isn't that reliable..about the same as a Maser or Anything Italian.. Lol

If it doesn't need to be a "sports car", how about a VXR8 or IS-F. The latter filling all your reliability dreams and both being unusual, with fantastic sounding V8s.

Really nice ! But an article on piston heads did state a badly locked after one can cost a fortune!! Plus they are becoming very collectible now and cheaper ones I've seen are around £17k... Good ones asking upwards of £25+....
A c63amg would also be nice but fetching same kind of money... :-(. Dilemmas

Hi Nick here are some options

Audi RS6 450bhp (with enough change to cover any potential gearbox rebuilds)

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2017...

Mercedes CLS55 AMG 480bhp

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2017...

Mercedes CLS63 AMG 515bhp

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2017...

E55 AMG 480bhp

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2016...

W212 E500 Sport (very rare car but a cracking Q car) 385bhp

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2017...

E63 AMG 515bhp

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2017...

Mercedes SLK55 AMG 360bhp (only 5.2 though)

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2017...

BMW 650i 370bhp (0-60mph 5.1)

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2017...

Jaguar XF SV8 410bhp only 5.1)

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2017...

Jaguar XF-R 505bhp

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2017...

Vauxhall VXR8 414bhp

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2017...

SL55 AMG 500bhp

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2017...

Grand Cherokee SRT8 (Leftfield yes but not a bad daily to have as it's completely different from the Maser)

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2017...

From the above it would be the E63/XFR/VXR8 but I'd be tempted by the Jeep. smile
